The Void Walker, Kassadin, is set to receive some exciting changes in Patch 12.23.
Kassadin has been one of the most iconic champions in League of Legends. He has been part of one of the best backdoors in League of Legends esports history. The champion also has its own player base that loves to play the champion despite its woes as of late.
He has not been in the best shape this year. In the past few patches, his win rate has been just under 50% win rate despite the new Rod of Ages coming out in Patch 12.22. Considering his pick and ban rate, Kassadin is still one of the more-played champions in League of Legends.
Thus, to break him free from his chains and limits, Riot is doing a Qualify of Life Update on Kassadin. It is intended to make him better to play with than make him stronger. Here is what we know so far.

Kassadin Quality of Life Update
The Kassadin QoL is being worked on to improve his playstyle going forward. Both Riot employees working on the update, HonestPillow, and MaxwellPerlman, have Tweeted about the changes.
These changes are geared to keep him relatively power-neutral, with the new Q being equally strong and the new E being slightly stronger. Here is what the exact changes are.
Q – Null Sphere
The changes are geared toward giving him more values in his base shield upfront while taking the AP ratio of the shield down. Also, the changes will alter when the shield is applied to Kassadin (the shield appears faster than before)
- The shield is granted when Q is cast instead of when the missile leaves his hand as part of the animation.
- Shield Per Rank: 60/90/120/150/180 >>> 80/110/140/170/200.
- Shield AP Ratio: 40% AP >>> 30% AP.
E – Force Pulse
Kassadin’s E is getting a systematic change. Instead of relying on spells cast, it can be cast whenever with the spell going into a long cooldown upon cast. The cooldown is reduced whenever spells are cast nearby.
- Force Pulse no longer requires nearby spell casts to be charged up to use.
- Nearby spell casts reduce the cooldown of Force Pulse by 1 second.
- Cooldown: 5 seconds >>> 21/19/17/15/13.
Riot hopes the changes to Kassadin will improve him alongside the buffs for Rod of Ages in Patch 12.22B.
Release Date
The Kassadin Changes are expected to come in Patch 12.23. The date for Patch 12.23 to be released is December 7th, 2022.
