This guide goes over everything you need to know when it comes to improving your gear in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a massive RPG and the latest entry to the Yakuza or Like A Dragon series.
It fleshes out the turn-based combat that was introduced in the last game and adds several different, new layers of complexities to it. And it is executed to perfection as learning your way around the combat will reward you heavily.
The game also retains its hilarious sense of humor that is common to all of the series’ entries. And not to mention that there is a mirage of side-content to indulge yourself in for tens or even hundreds of hours.
This time around, the two larger-than-life heroes, Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, are brought together by the hand of fate itself or something even more sinister.
And unlike the other times when their adventures take place in the bustling cities of Japan, this time around, our protagonists find themselves in the middle of Hawaii. And this goes without saying that our heroes have once again gotten themselves into uninvited territory.
With any RPG, upgrading your gear is one of the key components for getting stronger. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is no different in this regard. Because upgrading your tools and weapons is one of the main ways to increase your party’s strength and effectiveness in combat. So, let’s dive into how you can do exactly that.
How To Upgrade Your Weapons in LAD 8
In order to upgrade your weapons, you need to head to Julie’s Gearworks. This shop is a weapon crafting and upgrading shop that you’ll unlock at the beginning of chapter 4 of the main campaign.
You will unlock Julie as a vendor after you’re introduced to her by the bartender of the Resolve Bar, the primary residence of your team in Hawaii. When you do unlock Julie, her shops will become accessible all across the map.
Conveniently, visiting any one of these shops will allow you to upgrade, brand, and even craft new and more powerful weapons.
How To Upgrade Your Weapons At Julie’s
Upgrading your weapons will cost you Upgrade Materials and a small fee that increases every time you upgrade a weapon. You can strengthen a weapon up to 50 times; each level increases the weapon’s primary stats by a single point.
Here’s a step-by-step rundown of how the process of upgrading takes place in the game:
- Interact with Julie and select ‘Craft’, and then select the ‘Weapon Upgrades and Brands’ option.
- Choose the job you want to upgrade the weapon for. You can see who in your party uses the selected weapon as their picture shows up in the menu.
- Select the ‘Strengthen Weapon’ option.
- Put the ‘Upgrade Material’ on the counter.
- Lastly, click on ‘Perform Upgrade’ to finally upgrade your desired weapon.
Everything You Need To Know About The Upgrade Materials
As mentioned above, you need Upgrade Materials to perform any kind of enhancements to your weapons. Therefore, collecting these is vital.
You’ll primarily source your Upgrade Materials by winning fights, finishing dungeons, completing main and side missions, picking up items in the world, opening safes etc.
Furthermore, you can get five types of Upgrade Materials, and they all offer different levels of upgrade. These are:
- Iron Fragments: Upgrade Value 1
- Iron Chunk: Upgrade Value 2
- Iron Ore: Upgrade Value 4
- Pure Steel: Upgrade Value 8
- Lustrous Steel: Upgrade Value 16
To explain simply, in terms of how much you can upgrade a said weapon, one Lustrous Steel is equivalent to sixteen Iron Fragments.
