If you can think of something, chances are you will be able to do it. There is rarely an occasion where you will not be able to do something you have thought of. This is a perk of the game being based on the Dungeons and Dragons ruleset.
The Druid Halsin is a prominent figure in your journey through the game’s story. He knows a lot about illithid parasites, so your first step is to take the parasite out of your head. So you need to track him down first. There are a few ways to go about it. Here, we will discuss all the ways you can find Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3
How to Find and Rescue Halsin in BG3
Finding Durid Halsin is one of the earlier quests in the game. However, as you progress through the quest, you will understand that rescuing him is no easy feat. The goblins take him to their camp. So you will either have to take on the whole camp or find a creative way to find and rescue Halsin. There are two main ways you can do that.
Finding and Rescuing Halsin in Bear Form
Halsin is captured in his bear form and kept at the back of the castle. The location of the goblin camp will be marked on your map as the quest starts. Go to the goblin camp. On your way to the camp, be aware of an ambush, as some goblins will set up an ambush for anyone who passes through the area.
Once you reach the goblin camp, you will be able to persuade them or use your illusory power to convince them that you are not a threat. This will give you free entrance to their castle. Once you are in the castle, go to the back of the castle until you find some goblins torturing a bear by throwing rocks at it.
This is Halsin in his bear form. Here, you may be able to intimidate the goblins to release the bear. But if that fails, you will have to fight and kill everyone in the room. If you want to fight, you can go around and kill any isolated enemy from stealth first. This will reduce the number of enemies you have to face. Once you kill everyone in the room, Halsin will take his human form and thank you. Then you can fast-travel out of there or pursue to kill the leader.
Resuing Halsin by Killing True Soul
True Souls are those that are infected by illithid parasites. The goblin leader is a true soul who controls everything around the camp using his power. So you can kill him to scatter the goblin forces. That way, Halsin will be able to escape during the chaos. You don’t need to find or rescue him in this case. If you want to take this route, go to the main throne room of the castle and take on the true soul goblin.
However, he is not easy to reach either. You will have to take multiple difficult fights against high-level enemies to be able to reach him. But with a bit of preparation and the use of environmental hazards, you can reach him. Killing the true soul will get the whole camp turned against you. So, the best way to do this is to kill the true soul and not leave the castle. Kill anyone in the room, then fast-travel out of the area.
Now when you go to Druid’s Grove, Halsin will show up there saying he slipped away in the chaos when the goblin leader was killed.
