Where to Find Hunters in Helldivers 2
Hunters can be found on any Terminid-infested planet located in the eastern/orange sectors of the galaxy map in Helldivers 2. They’re also found in missions involving bug nests, patrols, and breaches. You’ll often spot them emerging from bug holes within nests or in groups after a breach.
As you progress through higher difficulties, be on the lookout for their cousins, the Stalkers. They are also bug-like foes that can partially cloak themselves, adding more danger to your missions. If you spot one, try to track back to its nest to eliminate the threat at the source.
How to Kill Hunters: Strategies and Tactics
You can use my strategies and tactics to counter and kill Hunters in Helldivers 2, as a team, or solo.
Defeat Hunters as Solo
Going up against Hunter swarms solo is a nightmare. Without any backup, a single misstep against these speedy bugs can be deadly. But I’ve learned and perfected tactics to overcome them over time.
Mobility is key. Forget other things and keep moving! Never stay stationary. That’s why I always use light armor for solo Hunter encounters. It allows for easy movement while offering decent protection.
Now that you know how to stay alive solo, let’s learn how to kill Hunters in Helldivers 2. My trusty auto pistol is my sidearm of choice because it lets me shoot on the move. For my primary, I prefer rapid-fire weapons like machine guns or the SG225-Breaker.
Stratagems are my best friends when dealing with Hunters in Solo mode. The Guard Dog: Rover acts like a teammate, helping with crowd control while I stay mobile. If things get hairy, I don’t hesitate to activate my shield to buy some breathing room and plan my next move.

It’s a cat-and-mouse game, constantly kiting them into hazards or obstacles to take on one-on-one fights. You’ll find a moment when they pause before leaping – that’s your opening for a devastating attack.
Defeat Hunters as a Team
Thanks to Democracy, I’m not always stuck going solo against these critters. Having a well-coordinated squad to watch my back makes dealing with Hunters much more manageable if still challenging.
Communicating and coordinating as a team in my first priority. Because, we can instantly split up the fire teams.
- One team focuses on area denial with grenades and deployed stratagems.
- Another team uses machine guns and assault rifles to shred any Hunters that slip through the killing zones.
- Finally, I’ll take SG225-Breaker to stun and knock back any leapers trying to crash our lines.
We always keep our eyes open so that we don’t get flanked. These cunning bugs can overwhelm you in seconds if you are not paying attention. That’s why, keep your eyes on all angles, and if a gap opens up, don’t hesitate to fall back.
One tactic that’s proven highly effective is the good old kiting routine, but optimized for a squad. One of us will take the aggro, leading the Hunters into a kill box while the rest of us line up the hurt with everything we’ve got — grenades, air bursts, you name it. Then we cycle through that role, keeping the Hunters constantly off-balance and centered in our crosshairs.
