You’ll get an objective to go to Checkpoint Rest Town, and here are a few ways to get through the gate at Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Checkpoint Rest Town is one of the most useful points of interest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can take a rest, talk to new NPCs, or take on new side-quests in the Rest Town. But you can’t just enter the Rest Town as you please. Instead, you’ll need a Border Entry Permit to get through the gate.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to get through the gate at Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2 using different methods. You’ll learn to use a permit properly and some cheeky ways to enter the border.

Method 1: Mask Up and Gate Crash

After leaving Vernworth, Captain Brant hooked you up with a Border Entry Permit to cross into Battahl. Not so fast — that permit is only good for furry Beastren folk. If you’re a human character, you’ll need to get a mask.

Head to Ibrahim’s Scrap Store on the west side of Checkpoint Rest and get yourself a legit Beastren Mask for 8,700 gold. You can now enter the rest town gates as you please. A scrap shop mask seems like some sketchy workaround. But, that’s how to get through the gate at Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Method 2: Preparing for the Illicit Gate Crossing

In order to actually cross the Rest Town gate via this method, you’re not allowed to possess any of the items that you can use to get through the gate normally. There are two items that allow you to access that gate, and you want to put them in storage at the inn.

One is the Battahl Residential Card, and the other is the Border Entry Permit. You should store both of these items inside the inn, so that you don’t have them on your character, or else the achievement or trophy (I’m In) won’t unlock.

Finding the Smuggler’s Oxcart

During the afternoon, you should be able to run north of Checkpoint Rest Town, across the bridge, and you should be able to locate an oxcart that has a bit of a shelter on it.

Unfortunately, the draw distance in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is awful, so, you won’t see it from far away. You’ll have to run across the bridge to see if it spawns in. It should be there every afternoon on a schedule.

The reason I know this works is that if you go up the mountain and talk to the gate agent, he’ll let you know that oxcarts like this one specifically are allowed to pass through the gate.

The Smuggling Method

Once you’re inside the cart, just wait about 5 minutes for the cart to go up the hill, down the street, through the gate and once you are on the other side, the achievement or trophy should unlock for you.

Method 3: Use Your Enemy as Your Friend

Another harder and more complicated way to pass through the gate, by the way, is to force an enemy to come near the gate, and then guards from both sides will attack it. As they are crossing through, it should open the gate, allowing you to walk on through. And if you don’t have any of the permits or the residential card, it will also unlock the achievement or trophy (I’m In).

I’ve mentioned the three methods that you can use to enter Rest Town. Moreover, I’ve included how you can complete “I’m In” achievement.
