Light Cones are the most essential item in Honkai Star Rail for the characters. Here is a detailed guide on how Light Cones work in the game.

In Honkai: Star Rail, HoYoverse has featured some game mechanics that fans will be familiar with. You can equip your characters with weapons in Honkai: Star Rail, just like Genshin Impact; however, these weapons are not like traditional swords or guns.

In Honkai: Star Rail, players use Light Cones, which resemble cards, grant passive abilities, and boost different character stats but do not have a physical appearance in the game. However, the work mechanics of these Light Cones might be slightly confusing. And that is what this guide is all about.

Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail

Light Cones represent a person’s memories in Honkai: Star Rail. Characters in the game can be equipped with any Light Cones, but their passive only works if the character and Light Cone have the same Path. Light Cones will increase a character’s abilities in the game and can be leveled up to Level 80.

Like Genshin Impact, Light Cones in Star Rail can be found in 3, 4, or 5 stars, and Superimposing duplicates can level them up. Anyway, how do these Light Cones actually work in Honkai Star Rail?

How do Light Cones Work?

Light Cones are the same as weapons, as previously mentioned. They can offer the equipped character three stat boosts: HP, ATK, and DEF. Equipping your characters with the correct light cones is crucial because if the Paths of both characters and light cones are not the same, the passive of the Light Cone will not work.

For example, a defense-focused support character would choose a Light Cone with a high DEF stat, whereas a DPS character would be more beneficial with one that offers a significant attack boost.

Similar to characters, there are seven different categories for Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail. Even though Light Cones come in all different kinds, a character can only use their passive ability in conjunction with a weapon of the same Path type. If your character belongs to the Destruction Path, that character should use a Destruction Light Cone. You can check a Light Cone’s Path type, usually mentioned under the name.
