The GTA 6 hype cycle may be about to hit another major checkpoint, as a new Best Buy-related leak suggests that Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders could go live on May 18. The claim comes from YouTuber Frogboyx1Gaming, who showed an alleged Best Buy pre-order campaign email live on stream, with the listed campaign running from May 18 to May 21.

The leaked material appears to point specifically toward a physical game pre-order campaign for GTA 6. The screenshot shared online lists the campaign as โ€œGTA 6 Pre Order (Physical Game),โ€ with a duration of May 18, 2026, to May 21, 2026, and a 5% online sale compensation figure for affiliates.

While Rockstar Games, Take-Two, and Best Buy have not officially announced GTA 6 pre-orders at the time of writing, the leak has gained extra attention because Insider Gaming reportedly independently verified the claim and stated that the Best Buy leak appears to be legitimate. Other outlets have also reported on the same alleged Best Buy affiliate campaign, though most are still treating it as an unconfirmed leak for now.

GTA 6 Pre-Orders May Start Before Take-Twoโ€™s Earnings Call

The timing is what makes this leak so interesting. The alleged Best Buy campaign is said to run from May 18 through May 21, which ends on the same day as Take-Two Interactiveโ€™s Q4 2026 earnings conference call. Take-Twoโ€™s investor relations page currently lists that call for May 21, 2026, at 8:30 PM UTC.

A pre-order rollout before or around an earnings call would give Take-Two a massive talking point for investors, especially given how much Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to dominate the gaming market.

It is also worth remembering that Rockstar has already confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official GTA 6 page currently lists that release window and platforms, which means a May pre-order window would land roughly six months before launch.

The Alleged Best Buy Email Reveals

According to the leaked screenshot and claims circulating online, the Best Buy campaign is tied to GTA 6 physical game pre-orders. The listed campaign duration is May 18 to May 21, with an online sale compensation rate of 5%.

Some fans have pointed out that the email reportedly uses โ€œGTA 6โ€ instead of Rockstarโ€™s official โ€œGrand Theft Auto VIโ€ branding, which has led to skepticism. However, reports from outlets covering the leak note that the email was allegedly shown live with additional proof from multiple Best Buy affiliates.

Fans Think This Leak Could Be Real

There are a few reasons this leak is spreading so quickly. First, GTA 6 is now close enough to release that pre-orders opening soon would not feel unrealistic. Second, the May 18 to May 21 window lines up neatly with Take-Twoโ€™s earnings call. Third, the leak was not just posted as a random screenshot, as Frogboyx1Gaming reportedly showed the email live on stream.

The biggest boost, however, comes from Insider Gaming reportedly verifying the claim independently. In the gaming leak space, that does not equal an official confirmation, but it does make the report harder to dismiss as a simple fake screenshot.

Still, until Rockstar or Best Buy makes it official, fans should treat the May 18 date as a strong rumor rather than confirmed information.

Rockstar Has Not Confirmed GTA 6 pre-orders yet

As of now, Rockstarโ€™s official GTA 6 website only lists the gameโ€™s release date and platforms. There is no live pre-order button on the official page at the time of writing. Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, but the company has not revealed editions, pricing, bonuses, or pre-order rewards yet.

If pre-orders really begin on May 18, Rockstar may need to reveal more details very soon. Fans will likely be watching for a new trailer, edition breakdown, collectorโ€™s edition information, or a wider retail announcement.

GTA 6 Pre-Order Leak Is Big, But Fans Should Wait for Rockstar

The Best Buy leak is one of the more convincing GTA 6 pre-order rumors so far, especially with multiple affiliates allegedly receiving the campaign and Insider Gaming reportedly backing up the claim. The May 18 date also makes sense when placed next to Take-Twoโ€™s May 21 earnings call.

Even so, this is still not official. Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 pre-orders, Best Buy has not publicly confirmed the campaign, and no pricing or edition details have been revealed yet.
