Getting the Dragon Scaled Armor in God of War: Ragnarok

To get the proper resources to craft these armors, you need to hunt Dragons, Drakes, and Drekis. This can only be done by undertaking optional quests and hunts in The Crater in the Vanaheim region.

To gain access to the Vanaheim region itself, you must first complete the “Creatures of Prophecy” main quest. Completing this quest takes you to Vanaheim. From here, you activate the “Scent of Survival” quest by interacting with Helka. After this, you’ll find yourself in The Crater and also notice a lot of Dragons, Drakes, and Drekis in the area. You have to fight these deadly beasts and harvest their parts. Defeating them is quite tricky. Hence you will have to spend some time if you really want the Dragon Scaled Armor set.

There are several Dragons Hunts in The Crater in Vanaheim through which you can obtain the required materials for crafting. For starters, you can take up the “In The Dead of Night” quest, which makes you fight a Dreki, which is the easiest type. Defeating a Dreki drops 2 Dragon Teeth and 1 Dragon Claw.

Once you complete the first optional Dragon Hunt, you unlock the Dragon Scaled Armor blueprint. Now you can track and hunt for the dragons to find the required materials using the blueprint. Keep on doing all the Dragon Hunts and favors to farm for the necessary amount of crafting materials. Furthermore, you should also track down Dragons and defeat any dragons you stumble upon on your own, apart from quests.

Materials Dropped

  • Dreki: 2 Dragon Teeth and 1 Dragon Claw.
  • Dragons: Hacksilvers and 2 Dragon Claws.
  • Drakes: 4 Dragon Teeth.

As you can see, different types of Dragons drop different loot, and you have to track and hunt each of them numerous times. Then, once you have the required materials, take them to dwarven blacksmiths for crafting.

Dragon Hunts

  • The Crimson Dread: You must defeat it as part of “For Vanaheim.”
  • Dreki: You have to defeat it as part of “In The Dead of Night.”
  • The Corpse Eater: Unlocked after completing “Return of the River.”
  • Double Dreki: You’ll fight it during “What Lies Below.”
  • Slag Horn: Set to daytime and head north from the Jungle Mystic Gateway. Near the cave, and to the east of the cave, enter through the gap to find footprints of Slag Horn. Additionally, the “Path of Destruction” favor is started, for which you must defeat the Slag Horn.
  • Crag Jaw: Encountered during the “Quaking Hollow.”
  • The Ash Tyrant: You have to defeat it during “The Burning Skies.” This quest is activated when you arrive at the sinkholes of Vanaheim.

These are all the Dragon Hunts you can take up, with some activating automatically as part of favors. Moreover, you should also look for hunting Dragons, Drakes, and Drekis on your own to make your resource farming for Dragon Scaled Armor more efficient.

Fighting these beasts of legends is no easy task. First, you have to keep Kratos and Atreus well prepared, including yourself, with the best abilities and skills. But, no matter how much time and effort it takes, the benefits from the Dragon Scaled Armor are well worth it.
