Epic Games has finally revealed the official drop rates for the new treasures in Fortnite’s Treasure Hunters mini-season, and some of these rewards are ridiculously hard to find.

The biggest surprise is the Pirate Shop Access token, which has just a 1 in 137,500 chance of appearing in a regular chest. Meanwhile, the Weekly Gold Outfit is even rarer, with odds of 1 in 1,562,500.

Following requests from the community, Epic has also explained how Treasure Hours affect these drop rates and whether players can improve their chances of finding rare rewards.

In Brief:

  • Epic Games has revealed the official chest drop rates for all seven treasure categories in Fortnite.
  • Pirate Shop Access has a 1 in 137,500 drop chance, while the Weekly Gold Outfit has a 1 in 1,562,500 chance.
  • Treasure Hours temporarily increase drop rates, with some rewards receiving boosts of up to 10x.
  • Drop rates remain consistent outside Treasure Hours, and players cannot receive duplicate treasures except Gizmos.

All Fortnite Treasure Drop Rates Revealed

In a post on X, the official Fortnite Status account shared the exact odds of obtaining each treasure from a chest during a normal match.

Here are the official Fortnite treasure drop rates:

Treasure RewardDrop Rate Per Chest
Weekly Gold Outfit1 in 1,562,500
Pirate Shop Access1 in 137,500
Weekly Vehicle & Decal1 in 7,813
Weekly Pickaxe or Back Bling1 in 568
Weekly Jam Track1 in 391
Weekly Loading Screen1 in 272
Gizmo (Any)1 in 127

These numbers explain why some players have been opening countless chests without finding the rewards they’re after.

The Weekly Gold Outfit is easily the rarest treasure, with approximately a 0.000064% chance per chest.

Pirate Shop Access, one of the most desirable rewards this season, has a slightly better chance of approximately 0.00073% per chest.

For context, Pirate Shop Access allows lucky players to claim eligible Item Shop cosmetics for free during a 14-day access period.

On the other hand, rewards such as Gizmos, Loading Screens, and Jam Tracks are considerably easier to obtain.

Fortnite Treasure Hours Increase Rare Treasure Drop Rates

While the standard drop rates are incredibly low, Epic Games has confirmed that Treasure Hours temporarily increase the chances of obtaining certain rewards.

During the first Treasure Hour on November 7, the following multipliers were active:

  • Pirate Shop Access: 1.5x increased drop rate
  • Weekly Gold Outfit: 7.5x increased drop rate
  • Weekly Vehicle & Decal: 10x increased drop rate

With these bonuses applied, the approximate drop rates became:

Treasure RewardBoosted Drop Rate
Pirate Shop Access1 in 91,667
Weekly Gold Outfit1 in 208,333
Weekly Vehicle & Decal1 in 781

Although these boosts significantly improve the odds, Pirate Shop Access and the Gold Outfit remain extremely rare.

Epic also confirmed that future Treasure Hours could feature even higher multipliers.

Fortnite Announces Even Higher Treasure Hour Boosts

For the second Treasure Hour on November 7, scheduled from 9 PM to 11 PM ET, Epic announced even better odds for two of the rarest treasures.

  • Pirate Shop Access: 2x drop rate, approximately 1 in 68,750 chests.
  • Weekly Gold Outfit: 10x drop rate, approximately 1 in 156,250 chests.

So, this gives players a better opportunity to hunt down these rewards compared to regular matches.

Epic says it will communicate any additional increases ahead of future Treasure Hours.

Fortnite Confirms Treasure Drop Rates Have Not Been Secretly Changed

Another important detail from Epic’s announcement concerns how treasure drop rates work throughout the day.

According to Fortnite Status, the standard treasure drop rates have remained unchanged since the Treasure Hunters season launched on November 1.

That means players aren’t secretly getting better or worse odds by playing at different times of the day.

The only confirmed exception is during Treasure Hours, when specific rewards receive temporary boosts.

Epic also clarified that players cannot receive the same treasure twice, with Gizmos being the only exception.

So, once you’ve obtained a particular treasure reward, you won’t keep finding duplicates of that same reward.

Is It Worth Hunting for Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite?

With odds of 1 in 137,500 per chest, finding Pirate Shop Access through regular gameplay requires a huge amount of luck.

Even during a 2x Treasure Hour, the odds only improve to around 1 in 68,750.

For players hoping to obtain the rarest treasures, the best approach is to prioritize opening more chests during Treasure Hours rather than relying entirely on regular matches.

Of course, a higher drop rate doesn’t guarantee a reward. You could open hundreds or even thousands of chests without finding the Pirate Shop Access token.

Still, the announcement gives Fortnite players a much clearer picture of what they’re chasing.

With additional Treasure Hours planned throughout the mini-season and potentially higher drop rate multipliers on the way, players will have more opportunities to test their luck before Treasure Hunters comes to an end.
