Fortnite China Servers Shutting Down in 2 Weeks, All Player Data Will be Erased

In a recent announcement, Epic stated that the Fortnite China servers will be shut down in 2 weeks time.

Fortnite is an online shooter game developed by Epic Games. The game comes in three modes, Save The World, Battle Royale, and Creative. Among these, the Battle Royale mode is the most popular and has the most active players. Fortnite is popular all over the world including China.

But a recent announcement from Epic Games left the Chinese Fortnite community in shambles. The announcement stated that the Fortnite Chinese Servers will be shut down on November 15th, 2021.

The message was announced on fn.qq.com. The announcement reads,

“Dear users:

The test of “Fortress Night” has come to an end. We will shut down the server in the near future. The specific arrangements for the suspension of the test are as follows:

At 11 o’clock in the morning on November 1, 2021, stop the registration of new game users and close the download entrance;

At 11 o’clock in the morning on November 15, 2021, the game server will be shut down, and users will not be able to log in to the game;

Thank you for everyone who boarded the bus and participated in the “Fortnite” test!”

The decision probably comes after China recently imposed some restrictions on under 18 gamers. The restrictions limit under 18’s game playing time from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m on only Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and holidays. That means under 18’s can only play games for 3 hours per week. The rule also ensures that gamers must use real names and verification in order to play games. This restriction applies to all electronic devices and not only limited to gaming PC’s and Consoles.
