Coming to the question of when you get to ride an Ikran mount, you will have to wait a bit. Ikrans are introduced deep into the campaign. You will be able to get an Ikran in the Take Flight mission, which is the 12th mission of the campaign. But the experience you will get is worth the wait.
The Take Flight mission takes place in the Kinglor Forest. In the quest, you must go to the Ikran Rookery, where you will bond with your Ikran. The Rookery is located below the Floating Mountains. Use the map to keep going south of the Glade of Light, and you will reach the Floating Mountains. There, you will meet Nefika and be tasked to bond with the Ikran at the top of the Rookery. You must attempt to tame him and make the neural bond. After bonding, you can name and select a pattern for your Ikran.
