What happens when you combine Elden Ring’s brutal combat with the over-the-top swordplay of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance? Apparently, something absolutely incredible.

A talented modder has decided to bring Raiden and his signature Blade Mode mechanics into FromSoftware’s open-world RPG, allowing players to slice through enemies with the same ridiculous precision seen in Metal Gear Rising.

The project is still a work in progress, but the early gameplay footage already looks surprisingly polished, turning Elden Ring’s challenging encounters into something straight out of PlatinumGames’ iconic hack-and-slash title.

In Brief:

  • Metal Gear Rising meets Elden Ring: Modder Buldjat is bringing Raiden’s fast-paced sword combat into the Lands Between.
  • Blade Mode returns: Players can slow down time, zoom in on enemies, and perform devastating sword slashes.
  • Insane gameplay: The preview showcases Metal Gear Rising-style combat against Elden Ring’s monsters.
  • Still in development: The mod is a work in progress, with no confirmed public release date.

Elden Ring Gets Metal Gear Rising’s Iconic Blade Mode

On November 6, modder Buldjat shared a gameplay preview of an ambitious project combining Elden Ring with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

The footage showcases Raiden bringing his signature hack-and-slash combat into the Lands Between.

For those unfamiliar, Metal Gear Rising is best known for its incredibly fast sword combat, particularly its iconic Blade Mode mechanic.

When activated, the camera zooms in, time slows down, and players can precisely aim Raiden’s sword to slice enemies apart.

Buldjat is attempting to recreate that experience inside Elden Ring, a game where even ordinary enemies can punish careless attacks.

Instead of carefully dodging attacks and waiting for openings, the mod lets Raiden unleash a series of devastating sword strikes.

The result looks like an entirely different game, with the slower, methodical combat of Elden Ring giving way to the flashy action of Metal Gear Rising.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the project is how naturally the two combat systems appear to come together.

Raiden’s aggressive swordplay contrasts sharply with Elden Ring’s dark fantasy setting, yet the combination looks incredibly entertaining.

The slow-motion slicing mechanic is particularly satisfying, making encounters feel more like Metal Gear Rising’s cinematic fights than traditional Soulslike battles.

Buldjat seems equally impressed with the results.

In the original post, the modder explained that they were still working on bringing Metal Gear Rising into Elden Ring and that the gameplay felt even better than expected.

It’s an ambitious undertaking, especially considering how different the combat mechanics are between the two games.

When Will the Metal Gear Rising Elden Ring Mod Release?

Unfortunately, Buldjat hasn’t announced a release date for the mod.

The project is still under development, and there is currently no confirmed public download for this particular version.

It’s also unclear how many of Metal Gear Rising’s mechanics will make it into the finished project.
