Here are all the random encounters you will face in Dying Light 2.

In Dying Light 2, like all other open-world games, you will encounter all kinds of strangers. These strangers may ask you for some help and reward you in exchange. In Dying Light 2, you will come across these random encounters that will appear to have a blue diamond icon. To make that process easier for new players, we created a complete guide on the Random Encounters that you may face in the game.

All Random Encounters

As of writing, there are nine different random encounters you will most likely face in the game. The encounters may include you helping survivors from the zombies or thugs. Some meetings will also lead you to get information or receive a request to escort them to safety. Otherwise, you can stick around to listen to a story. In this guide, you can check out all the random encounters we have listed below:

Trapped Survivor

You might find a survivor trapped inside a metal cage, building, or getting attacked by zombies. If you manage to rescue them from the zombies, they will reward you. You can kill the zombies with your knife or weapon quickly to get the reward from the survivor. If you take too long to get to the survivors, they will come out to the open and die.

Hostage Situation

This can be triggered in two places, once in the Slums and the other time when you are in the Old Town. For example, you may encounter a team of Rais men taking two survivors hostage. One in the Slums and the other one in the Old Town. Compared to Old Town, the Slums encounter is much easier as there are fewer thugs with fewer weapons in that area.

In the Old Town encounter, the thugs will deal more damage. On top of that, these enemies might have multiple rifles. Either way, you should be careful when you save the survivors, as they will only reward you once you have successfully saved them.

Travelling Merchants

Traveling Merchants can be found on the rooftops of buildings or inside secure buildings. You will be able to buy weapons and craft parts from them like all other merchants in the game. However, they do not sell any unique items. Also, the only thing that separates them from the other merchants is that you can find them in the world.

Hostile survivors

After entering Old Town, you will sometimes get attacked by a hostile Survivor. These survivors will desperately need some Antizin and will kill you to obtain some. You can either kill them or run away from them. It’s up to you. They will avoid zombies even if they are beside you and chase you to get the Antizin.

Demolisher fight

After getting around various arenas inside Old Town, you will also encounter this mini-boss fight. These arenas in the Old Town are built to prevent Virals and Biters from coming inside. However, you will often see a group of 3 survivors fighting a Demolisher. If you defeat the Demolisher and help them, the survivors will reward you with a weapon upgrade.

Two Runners Vs Zombies

You will often watch two runners trying to find a small group of Biters in the open. The sad part of this encounter is that both runners might be killed or infected after the meeting. Although, if you can manage to kill the Biters and help them out, they will reward you before heading out.

Low immunity survivor

This encounter, unlike others, does not need any fighting. The survivor’s immunity has gone down, and you will have to help him out in a small time frame. So, you have to provide the survivor with an Immunity Booster or UV Shroomz.

Runaway bandit

Sometimes, in Dying Light 2, you will see a bandit making a run after seeing you. In that scenario, make sure you kill him to get his loot.

The Bolter

In some heavily infected areas, you may find a Bolter. It will run away quickly, so make sure you take it down before it runs away. You will be able to see glowing footprints as it tries to get away, so make sure to keep an eye on that. They will often drop infected trophies, so it is worth killing them.
