Since it is an MMORPG, Diablo Immortal offers players classic MMO features such as forming parties of up to 8 players, participating in dynamic events together, and playing co-op. Classic RPG features such as character creation, and character progression are also present.

When starting off the game, one of the toughest choices players have to make is choosing a character class. Since each character class brings something different to the table, you have to make sure you pick one that goes most with your preferred playstyle. If you’re confused about the differences between each character class, read our detailed guide on all classes in Diablo Immortal.

But what about after choosing a character class? You may have planned it all out and selected a character class you thought you’d like. And everything may even have gone smoothly in the first 30-40 hours until you eventually got bored of the same battle mechanics. That’s when the question arises – is there a way to change character class mid-game?

Well, turns out that there currently isn’t a way to change character class mid-game in Diablo Immortal, but there soon will be. Blizzard has explained that even though this feature isn’t available at launch, they’ll soon be adding it in a future update. Below we have explained how you can change your character class right now and when the new update launches.

Changing Character Class in Diablo Immortal

Before Update

As of writing, players cannot simply switch their character class without losing their character progress. With that being said, it’s still possible to change your character class by creating a new character under the same account. In order to create a new character from your account, you’ll first have to leave the game.

To leave the game, first tap or click on your Character Portrait which appears at the top left corner of your screen. From there, select Ellipses, and go to Settings. Then, click on the General tab and select the “Leave Game” option. Now you can create a brand new character with a different character class of your choice. However, this method is inconvenient if you do not wish to start over from scratch.

After Update

Here’s what you’ll need to do to change your character class after the new update. Firstly, you will have to travel to Westmarch city. From there, you’ll not only be able to change your character’s class but also their gender and appearance. Keep in mind that your existing character’s appearance may be automatically altered based on the new character class you’ve chosen. However, you can tweak them based on your preferences.

It’s also important to note that changing your character’s class will not hinder your progress; meaning, any character progression such as your Paragon Level will remain unchanged. Moreover, all the resources you have earned up until this point will also remain intact. This includes gems and other items you may have collected throughout your adventures.

Furthermore, since some weapons can only be wielded by certain character classes, you’ll get new weapons specific to your newly chosen class. This means that the legendary weapons you’ve collected until now will be moved to your inventory.

The downside is that you’ll have to grind for and collect new legendary weapons and items specific to your newly chosen character class. But on the bright side, your previous character class and weapons will all be saved in case you want to change back to it later down the line.
