Counter strike just passed 1 million concurrent players for the first time after the game became free-to-play.
CSGO has been breaking record after records as the concurrent player base was rising month after month. As of now the game finally reached that 1 million concurrent player base for the first time ever. So, it suffices to say that Operation Shattered web was a massive success for the game.
New Age for Counter-Strike
In the age of live service games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Destiny, Warframe, etc, CSGO wasn’t the top of the food chain anymore. People with short attention span began to move over to more live service experiences.
As the hype for the battle royale game died down a little bit, people began to come back to the father of all modern FPS. The game becoming free-to-play also played a huge part in it. More people had a chance to experience the game for the first time and they wanted more.
With the launch of the new operation shattered web, Counter-Strike started to become a hub for returning players who wanted to grind for the new achievements. With games like Valorant coming right around the corner using Counter-Strike’s formula for tactical shooters, Valve has finally decided to give CS the total respect it deserves.
