Pearl Abyss has rolled out Crimson Desert Patch 1.18.00, bringing a sizable collection of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, stability updates, and gameplay tweaks. While the update does not introduce major new story content, it addresses several issues across exploration, combat, controls, graphics, quests, and the knowledge system.
In brief
- Version 1.18.00 adds a new Quests category to the Knowledge system
- Lock-on camera controls now offer Manual, Semi-auto, and Auto settings
- Several quest progression, mount, trading, UI, and combat issues have been fixed
- Pearl Abyss has also addressed camera, lighting, Frame Generation, and stability problems
Crimson Desert Adds a New Quests Knowledge Category
One of the biggest changes in Version 1.18.00 is the addition of Quests as a new Knowledge category. It contains eight subcategories covering Main Quests, Faction Quests, Investigation Quests, Research Quests, Daily Life Quests, Guides, Archive Records, and Constellations.

Certain quest-related Knowledge entries will also be awarded retroactively to players who already completed the required quests. Pearl Abyss has additionally changed research costs from silver to camp funds and made several improvements to animal and quest Knowledge acquisition.
The Stable has also been improved, allowing players to equip horse gear directly from the location.
Lock-On Camera Controls Get More Options
Version 1.18.00 expands the Lock-on Camera Rotation setting with three options: Manual, Semi-auto, and Auto.

Manual lets players freely rotate the camera while locked onto an enemy. Semi-auto allows camera movement within a limited range, while Auto prevents manual camera rotation during lock-on.
Pearl Abyss has also fixed an issue that could prevent players from locking onto targets with ranged weapons while mounted.
Combat, Exploration, and UI Improvements
Special mounts should now have fewer problems crossing low ledges, while a bug preventing players from climbing through unobstructed windows has been fixed.

The world map has also been updated so players can more easily distinguish locations revealed by ringing bells from areas they have personally explored. Several quest-related progression issues have also been addressed, including a problem that could block progress during “Time to Face Justice.”
Graphics and Stability Fixes Arrive in Version 1.18.00
Pearl Abyss has fixed unstable indoor lighting and reduced camera jitter that could occur at low frame rates. The update also addresses corrupted rendering when using FSR Frame Generation or XeSS Frame Generation on certain lower-end GPUs, including the GTX 1060.
Other fixes target workers failing after loading saves, abnormal mount animations, equipment clipping, audio issues, NPC placement, and occasional returns to the title screen when reviving.
Crimson Desert Version 1.18.00 is currently available on Steam for PC and Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store. The Mac App Store version is scheduled to arrive later.
