Modern Warfare 3 has been confirmed to be the Call of Duty for 2023 by Sledgehammer Games and Activision.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is the current ongoing title. The game came out in 2022 as a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. The game shares most of its core mechanics with its predecessor.
Previously, Activision was positive that they would move back to a 2-year CoD cycle with the release of MW2. However, following a few issues, Activision announced that they would not stick with the 2-year cycle and will release MW3 in 2023, which will be developed by Sledgehammer Games.
Unlike MW2, Activision had not announced anything related to their next game, even in mid-July. However, following Warzone 2.0 Season 5‘s release, Call of Duty officially announced that the 2023 premium release would be Modern Warfare 3.
