Marathonโ€™s first Ranked season is about to end, and Bungie is giving players one last reason to bring out the gear they have been protecting all season. Ranked Cryo Archive will premiere on May 24 at 10 AM PT and will run until May 28 at 10 AM PT, making it the final Ranked event before Season 1 officially wraps up.

Bungie is directly telling players to equip their best saved gear and head into the derelict Marathon ship before the season ends.

Ranked Cryo Archive Is Marathonโ€™s Final Season 1 Ranked Event

Bungie confirmed that Ranked Cryo Archive will be the final time Season 1 of Ranked is available. That means players still chasing a Ranked title or cosmetic rewards only have until May 28 at 10 AM PT to hit the required rank before the season ends.

Players who have been holding onto stronger loadouts, rare gear, and better equipment, this is the moment Bungie clearly wants them to stop saving and start risking. Ranked Cryo Archive is being positioned as the season finale, where players are expected to bring their strongest kits into one of Marathonโ€™s most dangerous endgame spaces.

Bungie also reminded players to claim any Ranked reward packages from the Codex before the season ends, as those packages will not carry over.

Bungie Is Pushing Players to Use Their Best Gear

Instead of simply announcing the event, Bungie told players it is time to finally equip the best gear they have been saving all season.

Players often hoard high-value gear because losing it in a bad run can feel brutal. Marathonโ€™s Ranked Cryo Archive seems designed to push against that fear by making the final week of Ranked feel like a proper end-of-season showdown.

In other words, Bungie is turning the last few days of Season 1 into a high-stakes gear check. If players want to earn the remaining titles or cosmetics, they will need to take the risk before the reset arrives.

Ranked Cryo Archive Entry Requirements Explained

Ranked Cryo Archive will not be open to every player right away. Bungie says players need to be at least Runner Level 25 to enter. There will also be two loadout requirements depending on the type of run. Low stakes will require a 3,000 loadout value, while high stakes will require a 10,000 loadout value.

Low stakes should give more players a way into the activity without putting everything on the line, while high stakes are clearly aimed at players who are ready to bring stronger gear and chase bigger rewards.

Cryo Archive has already been described by Bungie as a pinnacle endgame challenge, built around intense security systems, Vaults, contracts, and contested extractions aboard the UESC Marathon.

Cryo Archive is one of Marathonโ€™s most important endgame activities because it takes players away from the normal planet-side zones and into the derelict UESC Marathon ship. Bungie previously described it as a high-intensity, raid-style PvPvE challenge with puzzle mechanics, Vaults, hostile security, and other Runner crews fighting over valuable loot.

It combines competitive pressure with Marathonโ€™s most dangerous endgame space, which should make every loadout decision feel more meaningful.

Cryo Archive is already punishing by design, and adding Ranked pressure to it could make the final week of Season 1 feel like one of the most intense periods Marathon has had so far.

Players Have Until May 28 to Earn Ranked Rewards

The May 28 deadline is the most important date for Ranked players. Anyone still trying to unlock a title or cosmetic reward needs to reach the required rank before 10 AM PT on that day. After that, Season 1 Ranked will no longer be available.

Bungie also made it clear that reward packages sitting in the Codex should be claimed before the end of the season. Since these packages will not carry over, players who forget to claim them could miss out on rewards they already earned.

Season 2 Details Are Coming Soon

Bungie also teased that more details about the Season reset and Season 2 will be shared in the next few weeks.

Bungie has already made several adjustments around Ranked and Cryo Archive scheduling after player feedback, including separating their windows so players do not always have to choose between the two activities.

With Season 2 details still under wraps, the final week of Season 1 gives Bungie a chance to test how players respond to a more focused, high-stakes Ranked Cryo event.

Ranked Cryo Archive feels like Bungieโ€™s way of asking Marathon players a simple question: Are you willing to risk the gear you saved all season?
