In Baldur’s Gate 3, there are a lot of characters that can be part of your party. One of the most useful of them all is Wither, who can serve you with many useful services in exchange for gold. Lucky enough, the players can unlock this character in the first chapter of Act 1 by completing the Explore the Ruins quest.
Wither can be of different kinds of help to you. The most useful help you can avail yourself of is changing your class or respec-ing your character. Additionally, you revive any dead ally of your party and also get some hirelings to help you in your quest. In this guide, we will provide a detailed guide to unlocking Wither in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Reach Withers in BG3
Soon after reaching the Overgrown Ruins, head towards the broken chapel in front of you. In the center of the chapel, you will find a stone hanging on top of a crane. Shoot the stone, and it will fall to create a hole in the ground. Now, jump into the hole and reach the underground, where you will have to fight some Treasure Hunters.
Once inside, you will find a giant statue in front of you. Now, get past the statue and look for the Refectory door. After the door opens, enter the Dank Crypt, where you will likely face some booby traps set for you by the Treasure Hunters. In this room as well, you will find another statue. Get past the statue, and you will be required to pass a Perception check afterward.
After successfully passing the Perception check, a button will be highlighted on the wall. Press the button on the wall to open the door behind the giant statue and get to the door of the Dank Crypt. Soon after entering the room, turn right immediately to find another locked door.
After opening this door, you will find Wither’s sarcophagus lying in front of you. Keep in mind that you might get obstructed by some booby traps set around the sarcophagus. You will also have to fight some undead enemies in this location, but that should not be very hard for you.
How to Unlock Withers in BG3
After reaching the location, interact with the Richly Adorned Sarcophagus and bring the Wither back to life. After a brief cutscene, Wither will ask you one question: “What is the worth of a single mortal’s life?” There are a lot of options for you to answer this question. However, the goal should always be to satisfy the Wither.
You can choose any option you want. There are multiple options that will result in the Wither being satisfied with your answer. However, if you choose an option that does not satisfy him, he will give you more chances by asking the question again.
After successfully satisfying Wither, head back to your camp at night and take a long rest. The following morning, you will find that Wither has already joined your camp, ready to provide all the services you need.
