Much like the original game, Master Duel allows players to battle each other by summoning monsters. However, unlike the classic 90’s card game, Master Duel has introduced the concept of gems that can be used to purchase digital card packs, structured decks, duel pass, and accessories; such as card protectors, duel mates, etc. In this guide, we will be looking at all the best ways you can earn gems in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

Earn Gem Packs for Free

Although you could always spend real money, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel offers plenty of ways for players to earn gems for free. Below we have listed all the proven methods that work to earn gems for free.

Complete Missions

Missions in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel work as a trophy or achievement system that yields gems as a reward when you complete them. There are two types of Missions available in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel: Limited-Time Missions and Unlimited Missions.

Limited-Time Missions, as the name implies, are timed objectives that need to be completed within the time limit set. Once the time limit expires, you can no longer earn gems from completing them. The easiest way to earn Gems through Limited-Time Missions is by logging into the game at least once every day, even if you are not playing any matches.

For example, players are rewarded 1,000 gems each day for logging into the game on the first two days. Other limited-time missions are also very easy to achieve, such as activating Spell Cards or Trap Cards in Rank Duels for a set amount of time, within the allotted time limit.

Unlimited Missions, on the other hand, are not bound by time stamps so you can take however long you need to achieve them. These lifetime achievements include missions like finding 100 Secret Packs, with players being awarded 100 Gems at every stamp such as at 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 packs collected. Other Achievements under Unlimited Missions include winning a duel in Solo Mode, Removing your Opponent’s Card, Activating the effect of a Card in the Graveyard, Special Summon a monster from the Graveyard, and more.

Play Solo Mode

The Solo Mode in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is designed in a way that introduces players to the core concepts of Master Duel, enabling them to complete challenges that get them accustomed to the dueling strategies of the game. There are 4 modes under Solo mode: Tutorial, Duel Strategy, The Absolute Monarch, and The Warriors of the Six Elemental Lords. Completing each of these modes under Solo Mode will yield you 600 gems. So you can earn up to 2400 gems from clearing Solo Mode alone.

Complete Tutorials

The game rewards players with gems for completing any and all available tutorials. So it is definitely recommended to complete all of them to earn yourself some free gems.

Win Ranked Duels

Head on to the Duelling Arena and compete in Ranked Duels. Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is designed to reward players with gems for simply playing against other players online. If you win a Ranked Duel, you are rewarded with 120 gems. If you lose the match, you still earn 90 gems. However, if you surrender, no gems are rewarded. Not to mention, winning Ranked Duels also levels up your battle pass, so it’s a win-win for you.

Purchase the Duel Pass

Head on to the Shop, select the Special Category, and purchase the Duel Pass (Gold) for 600 Gems. It is basically Master Duel’s version of a Battle Pass. However, not to worry as the gems spent can easily be earned back by playing Ranked Duels. Purchasing the Duel Pass will double all the rewards you get from completing each level in the Pass, compared to what you would get in the Normal Pass. In addition to that, there are way more additional rewards in the Duel Pass. You get 73 days to level up your Duel Pass entirely, which is easily achievable.

Purchase Gem Packs for Money

No free-to-play game is truly free of microtransactions. So, of course, the easiest and fastest way to get Gems in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is by spending real money to buy gem packs. You can buy gems for as little as $1.49 USD for a pack of 70 gems, or shell out up to $89.99 USD for the largest pack available, which contains 4920 gems. Below we have listed all the Gem packs currently available in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master duel with their respective prices in USD, Euro, and Sterling Pound.
