Players take charge of the witch, Bayonetta, as she has to travel to Thule to defeat hoards of mysterious man-made monsters called Homonculi. You will meet and be supported by new and old allies along with your other selves from alternate dimensions. Moreover, a young and mysterious Third-Witch named Viola will also seek your help and accompany you on this perilous journey.
In addition to Bayonetta’s classic fast-paced combat, players are introduced to brand-new gameplay mechanics such as the Demon Masquerade and Demon Slave, which allow Bayonetta to cast deadlier magic by fusing herself with an Infernal Demon and obliterate foes by controlling Infernal Demons.
Total Hours to Beat Bayonetta 3
Even with the endlessly fun combat, exploration opportunities, and complex puzzles, Bayonetta 3 still takes between 15 to 20 hours to beat on normal difficulty. This makes Bayonetta 3 a relatively short game, considering it has 14 main story chapters and a Prologue chapter.
Moreover, in addition to the 14 main story chapters that are focused on Bayonetta and Violet’s adventures, the game also offers 4 side chapters. Those chapters will be played from Jeanne’s perspective and focus on her search for Doctor Sigurd.
The length of the chapters themselves doesn’t differ significantly from each other. It can take players around 20 to 30 minutes to finish a single chapter if they strictly focus on the story without roaming around too much.
Having said that, the chapters may feel longer once you’re halfway through the story as the game introduces increasingly difficult puzzles. You’ll likely shave off a few hours of your time simply from having to redo the endgame puzzles. However, if puzzles fall within your field of expertise, it shouldn’t take you more than 13 to 15 hours to beat the game.
