Riot has announced the return of Arena to League of Legends with more new changes.
Riot Games just released the season 2025 Dev Blog. In it, Riot outlined their plans for 2025, which include new skin lines, upcoming champions, and Esports changes. However, the most interesting news for most players, especially casual players, is the return of Arena.
Formerly known as the 2v2v2v2 mode, Arena is a unique League of Legends game mode that was released back in July of 2023. It takes elements from both Summoners Rift and Teamfight Tactics and creates an amalgamation of a mode that is both fun and competitive at the same time.
Arena has been one of the most successful game modes in the last couple of years. Thus Riot has bought it back a couple of times and each iteration of the game mode brings in more and more improvements. According to the latest Dev Blog, Arena is making another comeback—this time with even more updates, including a brand-new Noxus-themed map.

When Is Arena Coming Back To League of Legends?
According to new Dev Update information, Arena will be making its return in Act 2 of the Season 2025. The exact date for its release has not been revealed yet, however, we can expect it sometime in late February or March.
In the meantime, we will have All Random URF to pass the time, which will make a return in the upcoming patch.
What’s New?
Riot is adding new features to Arena and a lot of the changes are to keep players engaged with the game mode. Here is a list of the new changes,
- New Map: The game mode will be getting a brand new map based on the theme of the season, Noxus.
- Guests of Honor: This new feature replaces the previous Cameo system. Now, players can vote on which Noxian champion can appear in the match and the champion will bring unique mechanics to the field.
- New Items and Augments: Similar to Arena’s previous iterations, the iteration will bring all new Items and Augments to the game.
That’s all the information we currently have regarding the Arena changes. However, Riot plans to reveal more changes in the near future, so stay tuned.
