Apex Legends Testing 4 Hour Ranked Map Rotation in East Asia Region

Respawn is trying something new with Apex Legends Ranked, at least for one part of the player base. According to an update shared through Apex Live Comms on April 14, 2026, the game is now testing a 4-hour Ranked map rotation schedule in East Asia for the rest of the split. The message also came with an important warning for players outside the region: do not swap servers just to take advantage of the change, because that will likely lead to much higher ping.

That is a pretty notable shift because Ranked map rotations have usually stayed much longer than public match rotations. Live trackers for Apex have recently shown Ranked maps lasting about 24 hours at a time, which makes this East Asia test a major change compared to the standard setup.

For East Asia players, this test should make Ranked feel less repetitive across a single session. Instead of being locked into one map for most of the day, players will get more frequent changes, which can help keep the grind from feeling stale.

Right now, this is not a global Ranked change. The wording from Apex Live Comms specifically says the 4-hour schedule is being tested in East Asia for the rest of the split, which strongly suggests Respawn is treating this as a region-specific trial rather than a full rollout.

That makes sense. Regional testing gives Respawn a controlled way to study player behavior, queue health, and match quality before deciding whether shorter Ranked rotations should expand to other regions later on. If the results are positive, this could easily become a bigger conversation for the wider Apex player base.

Do not switch servers just for faster map changes

The most important part of the announcement might actually be the warning attached to it. Respawn does not recommend changing servers to East Asia just to get access to the new Ranked map rotation. The reason is simple. Your ping will likely be much worse, and in a game like Apex Legends, that can completely ruin the experience.

Even if the idea of a shorter map cycle sounds appealing, higher latency can hurt everything from looting and movement to close-range fights and hit registration.

Could this Apex Legends Ranked change come to other regions?

That is the big question now. Respawn has not said anything yet about a worldwide rollout, so for the moment this should be viewed exactly as announced: a test in East Asia that will last for the remainder of the split.
