Apex Legends Season 31 could introduce a major change to one of the battle royale’s oldest systems. Respawn has already confirmed that a new Battle Royale feature is planned for Season 31, and the imagery attached to it has sparked speculation that the Ring could finally be getting reworked.

The theory also lines up with previous comments from Apex Legends developers about making Ring locations less unpredictable. However, Respawn has not officially confirmed that the Season 31 feature is a Ring rework, so the connection remains speculation for now.

In brief:

  • Apex Legends Season 31 has a new Battle Royale feature on Respawn’s official roadmap.
  • The roadmap artwork appears to feature Ring-related imagery.
  • Respawn previously discussed making future Ring locations easier to predict.
  • A redesigned Ring system has not officially been confirmed for Season 31.

In an earlier interview, Apex Legends Associate Design Director Josh Mohan discussed the unpredictability of the Ring and suggested the team wanted to make its behavior easier for players to understand and anticipate. Mohan said the system’s core behavior had effectively remained unchanged for around five years and that Respawn believed it was time to revisit it.

Apex has received Ring adjustments over the years, including changes to Ring size, damage and timings. The comments appear to refer more specifically to how future Ring locations are determined and predicted rather than claiming the system has received no changes at all.

Season 31 Roadmap Could Be Teasing the Ring Rework

Respawn’s updated 2026 roadmap currently lists a “New Battle Royale Feature” for Season 31. The accompanying artwork features a circular visual that closely resembles the Ring, which has led leaker and content creator HYPERMYST to suggest the long-discussed Ring changes may finally arrive next season.

Season 31 is also set to receive Ranked updates, a Legend rework, an Akimbo weapon and additional Wildcard events, making it another significant season for Apex Legends.

As of writing, a new Ring system is still unconfirmed. But between Respawn’s previous comments and the suspiciously Ring-like Season 31 roadmap image, the pieces certainly appear to be falling into place.
