Apex Legends Season 30, Marked, has only been live for a few days, but controller players are already convinced something feels different. Since the latest update, a growing number of players have reported that aim assist, tracking, and controller sensitivity feel noticeably less consistent than before.
And that has naturally led to one question across the community. Did Respawn secretly nerf aim assist?
In brief:
- Apex Legends controller players say aiming feels different after the Season 30 update.
- Some players believe aim assist may have been quietly reduced or altered.
- Similar controller and input-delay complaints appeared after a previous seasonal update.
- Respawn has not announced any aim assist nerf or controller tuning for Season 30.
Players have described several different symptoms since Marked launched. Some say their sensitivity suddenly feels faster, as though aim assist is no longer slowing their crosshair as much. Others are experiencing the opposite, claiming their aim feels unusually sluggish when trying to track enemies at close range.

Recent community discussions show that the experience is far from universal. Several players say the game feels completely normal, while others insist something changed immediately with the new season.
The inconsistency is what makes a hidden aim assist change an interesting possibility. Respawn could theoretically have adjusted something behind the scenes, intentionally or otherwise, that affects controller aiming without directly changing the advertised aim assist values.
However, there is currently no evidence confirming a secret nerf.
Respawn’s official Marked patch notes include extensive changes to Legends, weapons, loot, servers, and other systems. There is no mention of aim assist, controller sensitivity, controller input, or related tuning anywhere in the notes.
Interestingly, Respawn did make server stability improvements with Season 30, promising reduced lag and fewer slow-motion server issues.
There is precedent for updates making Apex feel strange on controller without an intentional aim assist nerf. Following Season 28’s launch in February 2026, players reported delayed tacticals, pings, sluggish inputs, and controller aiming that suddenly felt different.
As of writing, the idea that Respawn secretly nerfed aim assist remains speculation. But with multiple controller players noticing something unusual immediately after Marked launched, it will be worth watching whether Respawn acknowledges a bug or quietly rolls out a fix.
