Apex Legends players are reporting another frustrating network problem, with some users experiencing packet loss ranging anywhere from 30% to 80% even while their ping remains stable. The issue appears severe enough to make matches difficult to play, especially during fights where every movement and shot matters.

In brief

  • Apex Legends players are reporting packet loss as high as 30% to 80%.
  • Some affected players say their ping remains stable despite the packet loss.
  • Similar networking complaints have recently appeared on EA’s official forums.
  • Respawn and EA have not publicly confirmed a widespread server problem at the time of writing.

Apex Legends Packet Loss Reports Are Growing

According to recent reports, players are experiencing between 30% and 80% packet loss while maintaining otherwise normal latency.

Recent threads on EA’s official forums describe players encountering high packet loss across Apex Legends servers, including complaints involving US servers and reports appearing after the Season 30 Marked update.

Another recently submitted EA bug report claims packet loss can reach around 50% under certain circumstances, although it is currently unclear whether that report is connected to the broader problems players are experiencing.

Stable Ping Does Not Mean a Stable Connection

Ping and packet loss measure different parts of an online connection. EA explains that ping measures how long data takes to travel between a player’s system and the game’s data center, while packet loss represents data that fails to successfully complete that journey.

So, a player can theoretically maintain relatively low and stable ping while still losing enough packets to cause stuttering, delayed actions, teleporting characters, or other noticeable gameplay problems.

EA also acknowledges that high packet loss can sometimes originate from Apex Legends servers or overloaded data centers, although individual connections can also be responsible.

At the time of writing, there does not appear to be an official announcement from Respawn confirming that the current packet-loss reports are part of a widespread server outage. Apex’s official news page was updated on August 13 with the Ascended Hunt Event announcement, but contains no notice regarding a major networking problem.
