Apex Legends fans may finally have a clearer look at the gameโ€™s next playable Legend. According to recent leaks shared by well-known Apex dataminer HYPERMYST, the upcoming character is reportedly called Overdrive, and early details point toward a movement-heavy Legend built around speed, sliding, and aggressive repositioning.

Respawn has not officially confirmed the name Overdrive yet, so this should still be treated as a leak for now. What Respawn has confirmed, however, is that Apex Legends Season 29 will introduce a new Skirmisher Legend, with another new Legend planned later in Season 32. Respawn also said these new Legends are designed to change how squads approach fights together.

Apex Legends Overdrive First Look

The leaked Overdrive branding already gives the character a pretty sharp identity. As of writing, we only have a detailed look at this new character’s logo. The logo features a glowing purple emblem with a dark skull-like face in the center. The skull has a very angular, aggressive shape, almost like a cybernetic mask, while the outer ring looks like a broken gear or mechanical halo.

The purple glow gives it a sinister tech-heavy feel, which fits the name Overdrive very well. It does not look like a soft or defensive Legend logo. It looks fast, dangerous, and built for chaos, which lines up with the leaked movement-focused kit.

Is Overdrive the Next Apex Legends Character?

Right now, the strongest official detail is that Season 29 is bringing a new Skirmisher Legend. Respawn has not named the character in its official roadmap, but leaks have consistently connected that slot to Overdrive.

Overdrive has appeared in leaked game files, with datamined references to banner poses, intro lines, and movement-related passive abilities. That does not fully confirm the character, but it does suggest that Overdrive has been in development for some time.

If accurate, Overdrive would be the first new Legend after Sparrow, who was released in 2025. Respawnโ€™s own roadmap confirms that the studio wants to bring two new Legends across its 2026 and early 2027 content plan, which makes Season 29 a major moment for players who have been waiting for a fresh face in the roster.

Apex Legends Overdrive Abilities Leaked

According to earlier leaks, Overdriveโ€™s kit may be built around enhanced sliding and movement control. Pleyโ€™s report, based on HYPERMYSTโ€™s datamined findings, listed two passive-related names found in the files: Enhanced Slide and Slide Control.

That already sounds like a very Apex-style Skirmisher kit. If Overdrive can turn more sharply while sliding, maintain momentum better, or gain extra speed from slide movement, he could become a nightmare in close-range fights. Apex has always rewarded players who master movement, so a Legend built directly around sliding could instantly become popular among high-skill players.

There are also reports and community discussions suggesting Overdrive may have a drone-related ultimate, though those details remain less clear and could change before release. Also, many insiders are claiming that this new legend is a Skirmisher with a shoulder-mounted drone ultimate and mobility-focused abilities, but again, Respawn has not officially revealed the final kit.

Apex Legends Overdrive Skins

Overdriveโ€™s full skin lineup has not been officially revealed yet. However, a reliable Apex Legends leaker has revealed that the legend will get an Assassin-themed Legendary skin.

Apex Legends Overdrive Release Date

Respawn has not announced an exact release date for Overdrive. The official part is that Apex Legends Season 29 will bring a new Skirmisher Legend, and Season 29 is positioned after Season 28, Breach. Respawnโ€™s roadmap also labels upcoming content as subject to change, which means timing could still shift.

Based on the current seasonal cadence, Season 29 is expected around May 2026.

So, if Overdrive is truly the Season 29 Legend, the likely release window is May 2026. Until Respawn officially names him, though, it is safer to call this a leaked release window rather than a confirmed launch date.
