Baldur’s Gate 3 is an RPG based on the 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons rules. Dungeon and Dragon has a big emphasis on roleplay and freedom of action, and Baldur’s Gate 3 follows in its footsteps. While it is not possible to have the degree of freedom you can have in a tabletop session, this game is the closest you can get.
There are a lot of combat elements you need to be aware of if you haven’t played any games based on DnD rules. However the amount of freedom provided by all the mechanics only serves to enrich the experience. Scrolls are a part of it.
Normally, your character will have a few spell slots to cast magic. But if you have a magic scroll, even if you do not know the spell or don’t have the slot, you can use the scroll to cast the magic. This is a great way to finish up the combat, even if you are low or out of spell slots. Some of the spell slots can be used outside combat to traverse difficult areas too.
