Remnant 2 gives the players quite a few difficulty options. Here we will go through each one to let you know which one you should choose while playing the game.

Remnant 2 is a souls-like that focuses on shooting instead of melee. Their previous game Remnant From Ashes was a massive success. The players liked the soul-like aspect and the great guns of the game. And Remnant 2 keeps its focus on the gameplay while improving upon it.

Just like the previous game, Remnant 2 also gives the player the difficulty choice at the start of the game. But since it is a soul-like game, the normal difficulty is also not easy. Nonetheless, for a veteran soul player, the difficulty could feel pretty easy. Thus the difficulty choice. If you are wondering which difficulty you should choose, this article will help you choose the best difficulty for you.

Which Difficulty Should You Choose?

Remnant 2, even at its base difficulty, can be pretty hard if you are a new player to the genre. Let’s focus on each of the difficulties to find out which is best suited for you.

Survivor

The first difficulty option among the others and also a good starting point for new Soulslike players. In this difficulty, the game is pretty forgiving and also rewards the player more. This difficulty is meant to be approachable by everyone and rewarding for the new players.

Veteran

The veteran difficulty is specially designed for Soulslike fans and Veteran Remnant: From the Ashes players. If you are a fan of the souls-like genre or have experience with the previous Remnant game, this is the difficulty for you. It has a balance of challenging encounters and fair gameplay, making it perfect for any experienced players who want to enjoy their time with the game.

Nightmare

One may assume that this one may be slightly one level up than Veteran difficulty, but that is not the case. Generally, from Survivor to Veteran, the percentage increases by 50-70%. However, from Veteran to Nightmare range between 100-190%. So Veteran to Nightmare has a lot more of a difficulty curve.

If you are familiar with Remnant 2 and have run the game a few times, you can try this difficulty option. But in general, the nightmare is supposed to be a challenge to beat, and the game can often become unfair with its damage in this mode.

Apocalypse

This is the additional challenge for the players who completed one run on any other difficulty options. In typical soul-like fashion, your reward for beating the game once is a difficulty that is going to be unfair all the way. It is the highest difficulty level among the four, and only a few sadistic players are willing to play this to “torture” them.
