Worlds 2020 Group Stages reaches its end with the top 8 teams qualifying and the quarterfinals matchups are set.

Worlds 2020 Group Stages have been exciting to watch and the eighth day of the group stage is over. Suning, DamWon Gaming, Gen.G, and Top Esports advance in their individual group with G2 Esports, JD Gaming, Fnatic, and DRX being runners-ups. The quarterfinals draw was also done after today’s set of games.

Groups Summary:

Suning won Group A with a tiebreaker versus G2 Esports. Suning has looked like a very good team with SOFM in the jungle commanding the helm for them. Also, their top laner, Bin, has performed extremely well in the group stage. G2 Esports are the runners up of Group A and have shown high highs but also low lows. Their inconsistency in performance from match to match is what nets them the runners up spot in the group.

DamWon Gaming grabs the top spot in Group B and has been dominant in their group. However, they did lose their last game to JD Gaming. They are one of the favorites to win the whole tournament. JD Gaming has played according to their volatile style of play however it has backfired in some of their games. They lost to DamWon and PSG.Talon to net the runners up spot in Group B.

Gen.G are the winners of Group C with a 5-1 record. Their team has a whole has played really well in a group that was the most evenly matched group in Worlds. On the other hand, Fnatic ends up as the runners up of Group C with a 4-2 record. Fnatic has drafted well and played well around their jungler Selfmade. However, they lost to Gen.G in both their games against them so they will need to improve to have a good showing in the Knockouts Stage.

Finally, Top Esports wins Group D with a 5-1 record with an aberrant loss to FlyQuest. Other than that, they have played really well especially their top laner 369 stepping up. One key thing to note, Knight has not played particularly well yet and it is expected that he turns it around from the Knockouts stage. DRX ends up as the runners up in Group D and they have looked very well-oiled as a team. They are a very consistent team and have shown they are consistent performers in the group stage.

Quarterfinals Draw

The Quarterfinals draw was done after the last games of the group stages and they are as follows

  • Top Esports vs Fnatic
  • Suning vs JD Gaming
  • Gen.G vs G2 Esports
  • DamWon Gaming vs DRX

The upper half of the knockouts stage bracket has all the LPL teams while the lower half has all the LCK teams. Overall, Worlds has looked really competitive and that should be the same during the Quarterfinals and forward.
