VALORANT’s meta Controller agent, Viper, will receive a huge nerf in the 8.08 update.

Viper is the strongest agent in the current VALORANT meta. With a 78% pick rate, she was the most-played agent in the VCT 2024 Master Madrid.

Whenever a character becomes too powerful, the other characters inevitably suffer. So, Riot Games always steps up when a change is necessary, and this time will be no different.

With the new Act releasing on April 30, 2024, Riot Games is making some crucial changes to Viper. Basically, all of her abilities except for the Ultimate are getting hammered. For starters, the total uptime for Viper’s Poison Cloud/ Smoke Screen has been reduced. Thankfully, the cooldown for re-activating the smokes has also been reduced, so you can better manage your fuel.

Also, from now on, Viper won’t be able to pick up her Poison Cloud during a live round. However, you can pick it up in the buy phase. Lastly, the number of Snake Bites has been reduced to a single charge. Moreover, the price is also increased to 300 in exchange for an additional 1.5 seconds duration gain.

    • The minimum fuel needed to activate smoke increased 20% >>> 30%
    • on re-activating smokes after putting them down reduced 8 >>> 5.5 >>> 5s
      Poison Cloud (Q)
    • Can now only be picked up during the Buy Phase
  • Snake Bite (C)
    • Charges reduced 2 >>> 1
    • Price increased 200 >>> 300
    • Duration increased 5.5 >>> 6.5s

With the latest update, the community believes that Viper will meet the same fate as Chamber and Jett. What do you think?
