Heller is one of the many companions that you have the option to team up with in Starfield. Here is all you need to know if you’re considering teaming up with him.
In the world of Bethesda’s latest RPG, Starfield, you are set loose to explore the vastness of the space. But thankfully, you don’t have to do it alone. During your journey across space in Starfield, you will find yourself teaming up with people to make your journey less lonely and more interesting.
Moreover, each companion can bring a unique set of skills that can make your challenges a lot easier to bypass. Additionally, each has its own unique personality traits that can spice things up as you go on adventures with them.
One of the companions that you will cross paths with early on in the game is Heller. Heller works for the Argos Extractors, the group of miners whom you begin your journey with.
In one of your conversations with him, he will say that he’s looking for a way off the planet and expresses the desire to join you on your adventures if you want him to.
Heller Skills
- Geology (1 Star) – Helps in getting more common and uncommon resources from objects above ground level.
- Outpost Engineering (3 Stars) – Helps in constructing and researching on steller Outpost Modules.
Based on his set of skills, he’s not the best of companions to have on your journey. But at the beginning of your game, he is not a bad option either. After all, having 3 stars on the Outpost Engineering front is fairly decent.
How to Recruit Heller
As mentioned earlier, you will cross paths with Heller rather early, and he will become recruitable as a direct result of you completing the main storyline.
In one of your missions with the Constellation, you will head out with Sarah to look for a mysterious artifact. Along the way, there is a quest called ‘The Empty Nest‘.
Completing ‘The Empty Nest’ quest requires you to retrieve Constellation members back to the Lodge. One of the major objectives is Barrett’s Retrieval Quest, which will lead you to Heller.
You will meet Lin first, the supervisor of Argos Extractor mining operations. She will tell you that both Heller and Barrett are missing. From there, you have to head onto the crash site of the Crimson Fleet vessel.
There you will finally meet Heller. He will express his desire to leave, and you have the choice to take him in as a companion right there.
Can you Romance Heller?
No, Heller is not a romanceable character in Starfield, so you can not enter into a relationship with him.
Heller Assignments
As discussed previously, Heller, because of this 3-star proficiency in Outpost Engineering, is best assigned to an outpost. It will also boost your outpost research early on in the game.
However, he is of absolute zero use in combat. Making him a below-average companion when you take into consideration the other amazing companion options you have in the game.
Also, that one star in a novice skill like Geology is not all that useful either. While Geology, when leveled up, can help you find and gather more rare and even exotic resources, Heller having only one star in it doesn’t turn the tides in his favor.
