All major cities of the Settled Systems and what you can expect to find in them

Bethesda’s new RPG is a massive game. Starfield is set in 2330, where humans have mastered space travel and settled 50 light years away from our solar system in an area known as the Settled Systems.

The Settled Systems have 4 major cities, which are some of the most important places you’ll visit during your time in the game, as major aspects of the core narrative center around them.

Each city is unique and has a lot to offer in terms of quests, items, people, and general exploration. This guide aims to inform you about these major cities so that you are not overwhelmed when journeying to and exploring them.

Every City You Can Visit In Starfield

New Atlantis

The largest city in the game and the largest city ever created in a video game, New Atlantis serves as United Colonies HQ, as well as the Constellation’s HQ. So, you will be spending a lot of time in this city. It is located in Planed Jemison in the Alpha Centauri system. Here are some things you can do in New Atlantis:

  • Much of the central plot revolves around this city
  • Join the UC Vanguard, the space police! Head to the MAST district and look for the building that says MAST on it. Inside this building, you will see commander John Tuala, who will you a quest and tell you how to register for the UC Vanguard
  • Visit the Sanctum Universum. It is located in the MAST district, which you can get to by riding the NAT
  • Visit the Centurion Arsenal. It has some of the best weapons. It is directly east of the MAST to the commercial district

Akila City

Located on the Planet Akila in the Cheyenne System, this dusty settlement is the Wild West city that every sci-fi game needs to have. Akila City is also the home of the Freestar Collective. Beware, wolf monsters called the Ashta roam Akila’s plains and attack the city often.

Things to do:

  • Join the Freestar Rangers, become a space cowboy! A questline should start for this as soon as you arrive
  • Visit Honest Earl’s Alien Extravaganza, just down the stretch where you first enter the city.
  • Visit the Coe Heritage Museum. On the left side of town when you enter from the staryard.

Neon

Located on Volii Alpha in the Volii system. It’s Space Vegas, a hub of tourism, nightlife, and commerce. It is the base of Ryujin Industries. The city is run and funded by several operations and is a piece of cyberpunk in the space opera that is Starfield.

Things to do:

  • Join Ryujin and become space capitalists!
  • Explore Bayu Plaza; you can find it on the right-hand side as soon as you exit the elevator of the spaceport.
  • Shop at Ikuchi Market, located on the left-hand side of the spaceport entrance.
  • Visit the Nightclubs; the most popular is the Astral Lounge at the heart of Neon. There’s also Euphorika in Ebbside, which you can find by using the Bayu Plaza elevator next to the Emporium. Also, Madam Sauvage’s Place, near the opposite entrance to Bayu Plaza.

The Key

The Key is a former UC space prison station turned HQ of the Crimson Fleet. Unlike other cities, you might have trouble entering this settlement as the pirates do not take kindly to outsiders. This settlement thus is heavily centered around the Crimson Fleet, and you can gain much information about them here.

There’s not much to do here compared to other cities. In fact, this settlement can hardly be called one but does technically count as one of the major hubs of the game. However, it is a great place for trade, be it components, weapons, or ships.

Things to do:

  • Join the Crimson Fleet, and become a space pirate!
  • You can find components you need for smuggling
  • Dig up information as an undercover agent
  • Visit TK’s tactical gear.
  • Visit the Last Nova, a nightclub.
