How to Unlock Equipment Research Projects?
There are three Equipment Research trees in Starfield – Helmet Mods, Spacesuit Mods, and Pack Mods. Each tree has three tiers of research projects that must be unlocked sequentially.
To unlock the next tier in a research tree, you must first complete the project in the preceding tier. For example, to unlock Helmet Mods 2, you must first finish the Helmet Mods 1 project.
How to Complete Equipment Research Projects
If you want to complete Equipment Research Projects, here’s a step-by-step process for you:
- Locate a Research Lab at an outpost, settlement, or on your ship.
- Access the Research Lab terminal and select the “Equipment” category.
- Choose an equipment research project you want to work on. Take note of required resources and skills.
- Gather the necessary resources by mining, collecting, purchasing, etc.
- If needed, allocate crew members with the required skills for the project.
- Interact with the Research Lab terminal again and select your desired project. Contribute your resources.
- Wait for the project duration to elapse. Optionally assign crew to speed it up.
- When the project completes, the new mod recipes will be available at Workbenches.
- Visit a Spacesuit Workbench and craft your newly unlocked mods! Equip them to customize your gear.
- Repeat for additional research projects to unlock further upgrade tiers.
