Bethesda Game Studios is preparing another update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, this time targeting several issues that appeared on Xbox and PlayStation following the game’s recent update.
Bethesda announced on August 26 that a new Skyrim Special Edition hotfix is scheduled for August 27, 2026. The update will focus on crashes affecting console players and an incorrect Creations storage display on PlayStation.
In brief
- Skyrim Special Edition is getting a hotfix on August 27
- Xbox players will receive a fix for crashes caused by repeatedly opening the map
- PlayStation players will get a fix for a main menu on-screen keyboard crash
- The hotfix will also correct the Creations storage space displayed on PlayStation
Skyrim August 27 Hotfix Targets Console Crashes
Xbox players have recently encountered a crash that can occur after opening the in-game map multiple times. Bethesda has acknowledged the issue through its official support page, and the August 27 hotfix is designed to address it.

PlayStation players are dealing with a separate crash involving the on-screen keyboard. According to Bethesda, the game can crash when players open the keyboard and submit text from Skyrim’s main menu. That issue is also scheduled to be fixed with the upcoming hotfix.
PlayStation Creations Storage Display Is Being Fixed
The update will also address an issue where Skyrim displays the wrong amount of available Creations storage space on PlayStation.

This comes just one week after Bethesda released a major Skyrim Special Edition update on August 20 that significantly expanded console mod storage. The update increased mod storage to 15 GB on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, while PlayStation 4 Creations storage was expanded to approximately 16 GB due to differences in Sony’s storage system.
The August 20 update also introduced several Creations improvements, new supported file types for PlayStation mods, Creation Kit changes, and numerous crash and bug fixes.
The August 27 hotfix is much more focused, with Bethesda specifically targeting the console crashes and PlayStation storage display problem reported following the latest Skyrim update.
