Decide whether to choose “Lower the Gun” or “Fire” at the end of “Last Wish” in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the decisions you make decide the ending of the game and the fate of the Zone.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has different factions and people that want different things for the zones. There are two major factions in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, the Ward and the Sparks.
The Ward is similar to Duty, who were present in previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles, and want to protect society outside of the Zone, with end goal being to eradicate the Zone.
The Sparks, similar to Freedom, who were also present in previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles, wish to let the Zone be free to grow, as they believe it full of wonders and miracles and an area of complete freedom.
In between these factions are also several people, such as Strelok and Dr. Kaimanov, who each want different things for the Zone.
You’ll have to make decisions on who to support and what you think is the best outcome for the Zone, and these decisions come to a head towards the end of the game.
In this article, we’ll take a look at the choices you can make during mission 35, The Last Wish, and their consequences.
Keep in mind that these choices and this mission are only available to you if you choose Life is for the Living during the mission Subtle Matters, and Escape during Dangerous Liaisons.

Lower the Gun
If you choose to lower the gun and spare Doctor Kaimanov you will lock yourself into the Kaimanov ending. This will change the final 2 missions of the game. Moreover, you will have to fight Strelok.
The Kaimanov Ending sees Skif himself entering the pod, and taking control of the Zone, at the end of which, the Zone starts expanding throughout the globe.
Fire
If you choose to fire and kill Doctor Kaimanov, you will ally yourself with Strelok. Thus, you will lock yourself into the Strelok ending.
In the Strelok ending, Strelok enters the pod and takes full control of the Zone. Moreover, he closes all the checkpoints on the Zone’s borders and announces that anyone trying to leave or enter the Zone will be killed on the spot.
