Swain is getting some massive changes in Patch 14.21.
The last couple of patches in League of Legends were pretty massive and Patch 14.21 looking to follow suit.
Starting off with the changes, one of the biggest changes coming to Patch 14.21 is the Swain rework. Swain has been in a peculiar spot since his rework back in 2018. Due to his adequate AP ratio and one-dimensional playstyle, he has been designated mostly to the Support role. Riot is looking to change that and make him more of a solo laner with the upcoming mini-rework.
Moreover, Riot is revamping the Bounty System in League of Legends. The goal of the update according to Riot is to further stop snowballing. The current bounty system prioritizes champion kills, and farms to determine a player’s bounty but with the updated system, it will prioritize gold more. So, if your team is behind in gold and you are the only one fed, you won’t have a massive bounty.
There’s also a bunch of nerfs and buffs coming in this patch. So, we have a lot to cover so let’s get into it.

R – Demonic Ascension
- Cooldown increased to 120 at all ranks from 100 / 80 / 60.
- New Effect: Cooldown now starts on-cast instead of post-effect.
- Base damage reduced to 15 / 25 / 35 from 20 / 40 / 60.
- Damage AP ratio reduced to 5% AP 3 from 10% AP 3.
- Base heal increased to 15 / 30 / 45 from 15 / 27.5 / 40.
- Non-champion base heal increased to 1.5 / 3 / 4.5 from 1.5 /2.75/ 4.
- Heal AP ratio reduced to 5% AP from 18% AP.
- Non-champion heal AP ratio reduced to 0.5% AP from 1.8% AP.
- New Effect: Heal now scales with 1% bonus health, reduced to 0.1% bonus health against non-champions.
R – Demonflare
- New Effect: Now can be recast up to 100 times.
- New Effect: Now has a cooldown of 10 seconds at all ranks.
- Base damage increased to 150 / 250 / 350 from 150 / 225 / 300.
- AP ratio reduced to 50% AP from 60% AP.
- Slow strength increased to 75% from 60%.

Bounty Adjustments
Riot Phreak has stated that a massive Bounty System overhaul was coming in this patch but the exact numbers haven’t been revealed yet.
- Champion Bounties
- Bounties are no longer fully reset if a champion scores a kill or dies.
- Champion bounties are now determined based on how much gold a champion has earned or given away rather than kill streaks, death streaks, assists, and creep score.
- Gold earned from kills is equal to gold given away through deaths. However, more gold will be counted as given away from deaths if multiple champions are involved in the takedown.
- Gold earned from assists now counts towards positive bounties at a rate relative to the amount of gold earned.
- Gold earned from farming now counts towards a positive bounty and has a faster rate of moving a champion out of a negative bounty state.
- Objective Bounties
- Gold, Turrets, and Voidgrubs are now more important in determining objective bounties.
- Experience is now less important in determining objective bounties.
- Objective bounties now turn off faster.
Patch 14.21Skins
