Riot Games is making farming easier to learn with a new Last Hit Assistance system designed to help players secure minions more consistently.

Riot Games is introducing a brand-new Last Hit Assistance feature to League of Legends, aimed at improving clarity and accessibility when farming minions—especially for newer players.

The system is designed to reduce frustration during the laning phase by clearly indicating when a minion can be killed with your next basic attack. While it won’t change damage values or automate last-hitting, it provides a visual cue that helps players better time their attacks and build fundamental mechanics.

How Last Hit Assistance Works

In non-ranked Classic queues, non-super minions will now display a new health bar color when they are low enough to be killed by the player’s next basic attack. This visual indicator updates in real time, giving players a clearer sense of when to strike.

Importantly, this system does not guarantee a last hit—it simply communicates lethal thresholds more clearly, leaving execution fully in the player’s control.

What Damage Is Accounted For

Last Hit Assistance primarily calculates damage based on a champion’s base basic attack damage, but Riot has added support for certain passive and persistent effects on a case-by-case basis.

Examples of effects that are included:

  • Ashe’s Frost Shot passive (but not Ranger’s Focus)
  • Kayle’s Starfire Spellblade passive (but not its active form)
  • Passive item effects such as Helping Hand and Icathian Bite

Basic or ultimate abilities are only considered if the ability has already been learned, ensuring accuracy as champions level up.

Support Item Interactions

The system also takes support item execute thresholds into account. When charges are available on items like World Atlas or Runic Compass, the minion execute damage is factored into the calculation, allowing supports to better judge when they can safely secure minions for gold sharing.

Known Limitations and Exceptions

Riot has outlined several important caveats with the new system:

  • Minion damage mitigation (such as resistances or damage reduction effects) is not accounted for
  • Disguised champions, such as a Neeko using Inherent Glamour, will not receive the visual indicator
  • Zeri currently has a known issue where her Living Battery attack incorrectly includes on-hit effects, meaning the system does not properly calculate last-hit assistance based on Burst Fire

Riot has confirmed that these edge cases are being monitored and refined through extended PBE testing.

How to Enable Last Hit Assistance

Players can fully control the feature through the settings menu:

Interface → Health and Resource Bars → “Show Last Hit Assist”

The display can be toggled on or off at any time. For new accounts, Last Hit Assistance is enabled by default to help ease new players into laning fundamentals.
