Chimera Assault Rifle is the latest addition to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. Here’s how to unlock this gun in both games.

Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2‘s mid-season update just went live. It is the first biggest update these two new titles received since their launch, with tons of exciting content and balance changes. Additionally, a new LTE, a new Raid, and two Operators were also introduced in Season 1 Reloaded.

Apart from these, a brand new Assault Rifle called Chimera was also added to both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. Many of you may already know this weapon since it was previously known as Honey Badger and first appeared in Call of Duty Ghosts.

The Chimera AR, AKA Honey Badger, is a very popular Assault Rifle in the Call of Duty community. It’s not quite the same as it was in Ghosts, but it is still the beast that everyone remembers. So, players are excited to unlock this weapon as soon as possible.

How to Unlock Chimera Assault Rifle in Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2.0

There are 3 ways how you can unlock Chimera Assault Rifle in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0:

1. Purchase through Store Bundle

You can purchase the Chimera AR as a part of a store bundle called Dark Skies. The bundle will cost you 1200 COD points. But on the bright side, the weapon will be unlocked instantly. The Dark Skies bundle comes with the Darkcell Weapon Blueprint for the Chimera and is now available in the Store.

2. Extract it from Building 21 in DMZ

Similar to M13B, the Chimera AR is extractable through DMZ in Building 21. However, the problem is that Building 21 is not live in Warzone 2.0 and DMZ yet. Nonetheless, when it becomes accessible, you can extract the AR from Building 21 in DMZ, and it will be yours to keep.

3. Get 2 Operator Kills with ARs in 15 separate matches

If you don’t want to spend money, this method is the only way to unlock Chimera AR right now. For those who have access to Modern Warfare 2, getting 2 Operator kills with ARs in 15 separate matches will be a piece of cake because the Shipment map has arrived.

All you need to do is get into a TDM or FFA match in Shipment, get two kills with ARs, leave the lobby, queue again, and repeat the process for 15 matches. Your kill progression won’t be lost even if you leave the matches. So, you’ll be able to unlock Chimera AR within about 15 minutes.

However, for those who don’t have Modern Warfare 2, unlocking Chimera AR can take a little bit of time. You need to play Warzone 2.0 and DMZ and kill 2 real players (not AIs) for 15 matches to get your hands on this weapon.

But there’s one more good news. Activision is giving free access to Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer from December 15 to December 19. So if you really want to unlock Chimera AR without having to spend a lot of time and money in Warzone 2.0 and DMZ, you can do it via multiplayer free access period.
