What is Packet Burst?
Packet burst, or Packet Loss, is an internet issue that causes specific inputs to not reach the server properly. This is not a server-side issue but rather an ISP issue. Packet bursts usually cause bullet impacts to not register properly in Modern Warfare 3, which becomes annoying over a long period of time.
How to Fix Packet Burst in Modern Warfare 3
As packet burst is a client-side issue, there are various fixes out there that might completely eliminate the problem. We have rounded up the best fixes to help you eliminate Packet Burst in Modern Warfare 3.
- Restart your Router
Restarting your router is the most common fix to most client-side issues, including ping spikes and packet bursts. So make sure to restart your router and then load up Modern Warfare 3.
- Disable Crossplay
Disabling crossplay can also help you eliminate packet burst issues. However, crossplay can only be disabled on PS5 and Xbox servers, so if you’re a PC player, then you have to stick to the crossplay servers, unfortunately.
- Turn off “On-Demand Texture Streaming”
This is a graphical setting for consoles only, so if you’re on a console, head to your in-game Graphics settings and turn off On-Demand Texture Streaming. Turning it off might make your game smoother, depending on the condition of your internet connection.
- Check WiFi Settings on the Console (PS5, Xbox)
In your console’s network settings, check if it is connected to the right frequency band of your wifi router. If your router has dual-band, then make sure to modify your wifi settings to connect to the 5 GHz frequency, which is a lot faster than the traditional 2.4 GHz frequency.
Hopefully, the methods above will fix your Packet Burst issue in Modern Warfare 3. However, if it is still persistent, then make sure to contact your ISP to check if your internet connection is faulty.
