One of the most anticipated 5-star characters in Genshin Impact, Ayato is finally here with Venti having a rerun. Along with his limited-time character event banner, Ayato’s signature weapon Haran Geppaku Futsu will be available in the weapon banner.
Kamisato Ayato is the current head of the Kamisato Clan and serves as the Yashiro Commissioner. As the head of the Yashiro Commission, Kamisato Ayato is committed to maintaining the prosperity and stability of the region.
A 5-star Hydro sword user, Kamisato Ayato is mainly played as a DPS or a sub-DPS, depending on playstyle. An excellent Elemental Skill paired up with a Gaynu-like support Elemental Burst, Ayato is looking really good so far. Kamisato Ayato Talents
Normal Attack
Kamisato Art: Marobashi
Normal attack: Performs up to five rapid strikes.
Charged attack: Consume some stamina to dash ahead and perform an iai.
Plunging attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
Elemental Skill
Kamisato Art: Kyouka
Kamisato Ayato shifts positions and enters the Takimeguri Kanka state. After this shift, he will leave a water illusion at his original location. The water illusion clone will explode if opponents are nearby or after its duration ends, dealing AoE Hydro DMG.
Takimeguri Kanka
In this state, Kamisato Ayato uses his Shunsuiken to engage in blindingly fast attacks, causing DMG from his Normal Attacks to be converted into AoE Hydro DMG. This effect cannot be overridden.
It also has the following properties:
- After a Shunsuiken attack hits an opponent, it will grant Ayato the Namisen effect, increasing the DMG dealt by Shunsuiken based on Ayato’s Max HP. The initial maximum number of Namisen stacks is 4, and Ayato can gain one stack through Shunsuiken every 0.1s. This effect will be dispelled when Takimeguri Kanka ends.
- Kamisato Ayato’s resistance to interruption is increased.
- Unable to use Charged or Plunging Attacks.
Takimeguri Kanka will be cleared when Ayato leaves the field. Using Kamisato Art: Kyouka again while in the Takimegui Kanka state will reset and replace the pre-existing state.
Elemental Burst
Kamisato Art: Suiyuu
Unveils a garden of purity that silences the cacophony within. While this space exists, Bloomwater Blades will constantly rain down and attack opponents within its AoE, dealing Hydro DMG and increasing the Normal Attack DMG of characters within.

After it is used, Kamisato Ayato will gain 2 Namisen stacks.
When the water illusion explodes, Ayato will gain a Namisen effect equal to the maximum number of stacks possible.
Kamisato Art: Michiyuku Hagetsu
If Kamisato Ayato is not on the field and his Energy is less than 40, he will regenerate two Energy every second.
Kamisato Art: Daily Cooking
When Ayato cooks a dish perfectly, he has an 18% chance to receive an additional ”Suspicious” dish of the same type.

Echoes of an Offering
2-piece set: ATK+18%
4-piece set: When a Normal Attack hits opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack Damage by 60% of ATK. This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG. If a Normal Attack fails to trigger a Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%. This trigger can occur every 0.3s.
This is one of the two new artifact sets released with this update and is seemingly built specifically for Ayato.
Heart of Depth
2-piece set: Hydro DMG Bonus +15%
4-piece set: After using Elemental Skill, increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 30% for 15s.
Heart of Depth is decent for a Hydro DPS build, which will buff Ayato’s attacks after using the Elemental Skill.
Gladiator’s Finale
2-piece set: ATK +18%
4-piece set: If the wielder of this artifact set uses a Sword, Claymore or Polearm, increases their Normal Attack DMG by 35%
Gladiator’s Finale is a decent choice for Ayato because of the damage increase.

Because of the Normal Attack DMG increase and elemental DMG bonus, Haran Geppaku Futsu is Kamisato Ayato’s best on slot weapon. Besides his signature weapon, Ayato has some other good 5-star or even 4-star weapon options.

Upon dealing damage to an opponent, increases CRIT Rate by 8%. Max 5 stacks. A CRIT hit removes all existing stacks.
As we can see, Ayato has several good weapons available. If you don’t have Haran Geppaku Futsu, then Festering Desire or Black Sword are both really good options. Festering Desire was an event reward weapon that might not be available to newer players. Black Sword from the Battle Pass is an excellent option for Ayato as well. Royal Longsword is a great 4-star alternate that can be purchased with starglitter when available from Paimon’s Shop. With refinements, the Royal Longsword can be a viable option for Ayato because of its passive.

Playstyle
Kamisato Ayato does not rely on his normal attacks for damage. Instead, he primarily relies on his Elemental Skill, which is his main damage output. Ayato’s Elemental Burst will not increase Ayato’s attack speed, but it will increase everyone else’s attack speed within the zone. After casting his elemental burst, swapping to characters who can take advantage of the hydro application is the best way of utilizing his burst.
Characters like Ayaka, Yoimiya, or Hu Tao will utilize Ayato’s burst perfectly, as they can take advantage of the attack speed bonus. However, Ayato is good for freezing enemies but not for vaporizing reactions because of his long skill and burst cooldown. Support characters like Yunjin will boost your attack speed even further if appropriately used.
Ayato’s skill and burst both have 12 and 20 seconds cooldown respectively, but his skill has an 8 second use time. This gives ample time to swap to another character to reduce his skill cooldown with normal attacks from other characters and utilize the constant hydro application of his burst.
