Available on various platforms including iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows, and the Playstation with a Nintendo Switch release on the way, it’s arguably one of the most accessible gacha games right now.
The story of Genshin Impact has deep and detailed lore. The game’s story extends to its playable characters besides the main storyline. Some of these stories mention the glorious feats of that character.
In Genshin Impact, there are a lot of powerful characters. Playable characters have ‘Vision’, gifts from the Gods that allow them control over a specific element, making any vision wielder quite powerful. There are characters in Genshin Impact that are absurdly powerful in the stories, but that doesn’t exactly reflect in their gameplay.

Top 15 Strongest Characters in Genshin Impact
15. Klee
Klee might be a child, but don’t let that fool you. It is mentioned as a joke that Klee is the strongest member of the Knights of Favonius, and we don’t disagree with it. Because of her proficiency and fascination with pyrotechnics, Klee is one of the strongest forces in the game. Largely taking after her mother Alice, Klee’s definition of fun is throwing bombs anywhere she can and watching the explosions. Klee also has a habit of throwing bombs in bodies of water to fish.
Having been under the supervision of Acting Grandmaster Jean of the Knights of Favonious, Klee often has difficulty complying with safety rules and regulations needed within a city. Jean has to remind Klee about the dangers of her explosives, with varying success.
14. Diluc
The Knights of Favonius are ‘inefficient’, at least according to one man. Diluc Ragnvindr is the current owner of the Dawn Winery and a nobleman of high esteem in Mondstadt society. Diluc is a former member of the Knights of Favonius but dropped out after an affair involving his father. While a past incident caused him to split ways with the Knights of Favonius, he continues to protect Mondstadt in his own way.
In his Knights of Favonius days, Diluc was considered the best among them. He probably would have been Grandmaster by now instead of Jean if only he stayed in service. That would have made him even more powerful.
13. Ningguang
It is not Tartaglia who possesses the most wealth in Teyvat but rather, Ningguang, the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing. Gaining her status through sheer hard work and perseverance, she almost invariably looks at every situation from a business perspective. Ningguang is the owner of the prestigious Jade Chamber, a floating palace of her design that contains the secrets, information, and business dealings of nearly all Liyue.
Ningguang wields a Geo vision and is also highly skilled at wielding it, and additionally possesses powers that aren’t seemingly related to her element, such as levitation. She can mobilize and fortify the Jade Chamber with seemingly little effort and uses somewhat unclear abilities. Her only weakness is that she’s a human and thus has a limited lifespan compared to Adepti.
12. Lisa
As one of the free 4-star characters in Genshin Impact, Lisa is far from being the fan-favorite. Even in-game, she is not that great as a damage dealer or support, but she has a lot of achievements that could make her one of the strongest characters, lore-wise.
Lisa Minci, said to be the most powerful mage recognized as Sumeru Academia’s most distinguished graduate in 200 years, Lisa has since returned to Mondstadt to become the humble Librarian of the Knights of Favonius. Lisa saw how too much knowledge could change a person during her time there. Our mighty Librarian might not be that popular in combat, but Lisa surely is one of the strongest characters in the Genshin Impact storyline.
11. Shenhe
The daughter of an unnamed exorcist couple. Cloud Retainer, took in Shenhe as a disciple following a traumatic incident during her childhood. Shenhe wouldn’t have reached her full potential if it wasn’t for Cloud Retainer standing in as her foster mother. In her childhood, Shenhe learned to fight for survival after her father cursed her and caused her to become somewhat of a monster.
In some of the most recent events of Genshin Impact, Shenhe proved that she could defeat a being as powerful as Beisht(Osial’s Wife). We also saw how powerful Shenhe is in the recent Archon Quest, but she might be even more powerful than that.
10. Albedo
Albedo is the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius. A synthetic human-made by the alchemist Rhinedottir, Albedo, and his mysterious experiments and intelligence are proof enough of his capabilities.
Through a recommendation from the adventurer Klee’s mother Alice, with Sucrose and Timaeus as his assistant, he holds an infinite desire to learn about the world of Teyvat, carefully studying every object around him. If Alice found something special in Albedo, then that must mean he’s pretty strong and capable. This makes him quite a worrying figure in Mondstadt as he kept hinting that someday, he might destroy the whole city.
9. Tartaglia
Tartaglia, also known as Childe, the eleventh of the Fatui Harbingers, is the Tsaritsa’s weapon of war. Childe is always eager for a challenge, making him extremely dangerous despite being the youngest member.
His real name is Ajax. When he was 14, he decided to leave home, falling through a bottomless pit, and landed in the Abyss in his journey. Where he met a swordswoman named Skirk, who taught Childe how to wield a sword for three months. However, when he came back to the surface, only three days had passed, three faithful days that changed Ajax forever. His swordsmanship and lust for fighting eventually lead Ajax to become one of the eleven Harbingers, bearing the title of Tartaglia “Childe”.
Childe’s powers seem to be all over the place, but there’s no doubt he’s not your average Vision-wielder. More importantly, he unlocked his Delusion powers when he became a harbinger. He can transform into an even more powerful state known as foul legacy transformation and, in this form, can use both his elements in unison. This puts him at a higher level than most mortals in the game.
In the story, Childe was able to resurrect Osial from his slumber; a defeated God who can raise Tsunamis and wipe Liyue from existence. Only a powerful individual can pull off feats like this.
In Genshin Impact, Childe doesn’t wield a sword; instead, he uses a bow. Tartaglia is least skilled in archery, so he wishes to master the weapon by using it often.
8. La Signora
Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter, also known as La Signora and by her alias “The Fair Lady”, was No. 8 of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers and one of the first antagonists in the early chapters of the Archon Quests. She is also the first Harbinger of the Fatui to appear in the game when she ambushes and overpowers Venti to steal his Gnosis. She did that effortlessly without accessing her vision or Delusion.
Five hundred years ago, before she became a Fatui Harbinger, Rosalyne was an ordinary young woman from Mondstadt who studied at Sumeru Academia. When her lover Rostam died during the fall of Khaenri’ah, she was consumed by despair and hatred and used the art of liquid fire to transform her body into that of a living flame, later becoming known as the Crimson Witch of Flame.
La Signora was defeated by the Traveler in a duel before Raiden Shogun’s throne and then executed by the Shogun’s Musou no Hitotachi.
7. Ganyu
Being half Adeptus, Ganyu is also a candidate for deity and presumably has an unusually long life. She is a half-qilin Adeptus under contract with the Geo Archon Morax and serves as the general secretary of the Liyue Qixing.
She has lived for thousands of years even before the archon war and has fought in the battle and defeated countless enemies side by side with the Geo Archon, Rex Lapis himself. Though Ganyu is capable as a fighter, she mostly keeps to herself doing Liyue’s paperwork and keeping administrative matters in order. She’s also notably weaker compared to other more accomplished Adepti like Xiao.
6. Xiao
An ancient warrior who fights gods as a daily routine, Xiao is an Adeptus who purges evil and defends Liyue against danger. Being more than 2,000 years old, we know that he fought on Rex Lapis’s side during the Archon War. Xiao has had the luxury of time and appropriately used that to become one of the strongest Adepti in existence. Out of the five Adepti, Rex Lapis appointed to become Yakshas or specialized demon slayers, Xiao is the only one who remains alive.
As a Yaksha, Xiao’s duty was exterminating demons that plagued the land following the Archon War. He does seem to know only a few things despite his long life, but fighting is as natural as breathing to him. His thousands of years of experience in combat grant him an extensive knowledge of fighting, and he’s demonstrated the ability to teleport anywhere he wishes. Xiao resides in Wangshu Inn and mostly secludes himself from crowds and human interactions.
5. Traveler (Lumine/Aether)
The main protagonist of Genshin Impact, the Traveler, is a naturally powerful person, but their uniqueness is what truly places them above the rest. At the beginning of the game, twin siblings from another world, traveling throughout the universe until an unknown god blocked and captured one of them and sealed their power to travel, leaving them stranded on Teyvat.
Possibly a being from another world (and possibly a god), The Traveler once seemed to have access to flight and superhuman speed— and possibly had otherworldly powers that were sealed away at the beginning of the game. Still, even without access to these abilities, the Traveler can resonate with and master any element, that too without having a vision. No other character in Teyvat can control more than one element. However, we are still yet to see the full potential of the Traveler’s power in the story.
4. Yae Miko
Both Zhongli and Venti had pets that sadly became boss monsters (which is why they’re not included in the list). Then there’s Raiden Shogun or Ei, who has a shapeshifter kitsune instead, namely Yae Miko. She’s been with Ei even before Inazuma became an independent state. Miko is one of Ei’s only friends who is still alive through the ravages of time. She is also one of the few people who refer to the Raiden Shogun by her first name, Ei.
Yae Miko or the Guuji oversees the Grand Narukami Shrine and owns the Yae Publishing House. Yae Miko seems too reserved at using her skills and power, even when saving the Traveler. So she decided to trade the Electro Archon’s Gnosis to Scaramouche(one of the Fatui Harbingers) to protect the Traveler.
However, her age and ability to break into the Raiden Shogun’s Eternity plane signifies what she’s capable of if she’s willing to take action.
3. Venti
Venti is a traveling bard in Mondstadt, has a relatively carefree attitude, and loves Dandelion Wine. Like Rex Lapis, Venti is in hiding and the current mortal vessel of Barbatos, the Anemo Archon. Although Barbatos is considered the weakest among the Archons, he is still tremendously powerful. When he helped take down Decarabian and ascended to godhood, Venti was able to reshape the entire region’s landscapes and make it into the Mondstadt known today.
Venti doesn’t rule Mondstadt; instead, he gives its people the freedom to deal with their matters. But in times of danger, Mondstadt can always feel safe in his protection as Barbatos would defend the city against all kinds of evil.
The people of Mondstadt hold him in high regard and do their best to follow his wishes of living freely. This arguably makes him highly influential, as Mondstadt lives by his words.
2. Raiden Ei
Raiden Shogun exists in two forms—Ei, her true identity, and the Shogun, a puppet created to act as the ruler of Inazuma in her stead while she meditates in the Plane of Euthymia. The Electro Archon rules all of Inazuma with a promise of never-ending eternity.
While there are three Raidens available in the story, Ei is the strongest. Ei and her sister Makoto ruled Inazuma as Raiden, where Makoto took care of politics and laid down the laws. At the same time, Ei defended Inazuma from danger and fought Raiden’s battles.
Long ago, Orobashi of Watatsumi Island crossed the border and invaded Raiden Shogun’s land. So the Electro Archon slew the serpent with her sword. The immense power of this slash was so great that not only Orobashi was slain, but the island was also slashed and divided into two. This place is now known as the Musoujin Gorge. She also executed La Signora, one of the strongest of the Fatui Harbingers, with Musou no Hitotachi with ease. So far in the Genshin Impact storyline, Ei has been revealed to be one of the strongest characters.
1. Zhongli
Finally, the most powerful character in Genshin Impact lore-wise is the Geo Archon himself, Zhongli. He is incredibly strong, and since no one is powerful enough to kill him, he faked his death to get out of responsibility. Zhongli is also one of the last remaining individuals of the original Seven and is the oldest living God. He knows much about Liyue’s history and culture in part due to his time as the Geo Archon. Like Venti, he has many experiences and memories, as he was a god well before The Seven even existed.
Now, he’s an Adeptus who works as the Consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. However, before faking his death, Rex Lapis had many incredible feats under his belt. In addition to executing various minor gods and beasts of the apocalypse, such as Osial and Azhdara, Zhongli was able to form vast masses of land with just the movement of his hands. For example, when he defeated Osial, he used enormous stone lances. Later on, the remainder of this battle became a literal island, the Guyun Stone Forest. About 3700 years ago, Zhongli moved his people south of Mt. Tianheng and established Liyue Harbor.
Additionally, he was capable of creating Mora, the currency of Teyvat, which was consequently named after him(Morax).
