Every character you can romance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the fourth game in the Dragon Age series. And like its predecessors, as well as other Bioware games, it places a large focus on characters and their relationships and arcs.
In fact, most Bioware games are defined by choices that you make relating to character relationships. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is no exception in this regard, as you form bonds with characters, affecting how the story plays out.
Moreover, there are numerous characters you can pursue romantically in Veilguard. Romance entails not just talking to characters, but also supporting them emotionally and learning more about them. It also involves completing several quests to help them through their journey.
Each character develops greatly over time and so does your romance with them. In this article, we take a look at each character that you can romance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Bellara Lutare
- Class: Mage
- Race: Elf
- Faction: Veil Jumpers
- Companion Gift: Elven Frog Figurine
Bellara is an elven mage and works for the Veil Jumpers. She is obsessed with ancient elven technology and is an expert tinkerer, excelling in her field. She has a bubbly and cheerful personality and can be a little awkward at times.
Bellara is one of the first companions you’ll meet during your playthrough and can be recruited during the ‘In Entropy’s Grasp’ storyline.
You can start flirting with her after the “Smuggled Relic Case” main quest, but it takes time for her to warm up to you. To romance her, you’ll need to affirm her interests and support her journey during her dialogues.
Moreover, Bellara’s approval and disapproval do not affect her roman as long as you finish her companion quests.
Bellara also will not pursue another character if you do not romance her.

- Companion Gift: Display on Ancient Griffons
Davrin an Elf, raised in a Dalish Clan, who joined the Grey Wardens in pursuit of an adventurous life. He is confident, self-assured, and somewhat stoic. Davrin also has a pet Griffon named Assan, and much of his character arc revolves around him learning to raise it.
Davrin is the 5th companion you’ll be able to recruit by completing ‘A Warden’s Best Friend‘ main quest. He’ll warm up to you relatively quickly and will pursue you romantically after picking a few flirty options during dialogues with him.

Emmrich has a gentlemanly nature and is extremely polite. He also appreciates open-mindedness and gestures of kindness towards Manfred.
If you do not romance Emmrich, he’ll go on a date with the Strife, a Veil Jumper.
Lace Harding

- Race: Dwarf
- Faction: Formerly the Inquisition
- Companion Gift: Hinterlands Cloak
Harding is a returning character from Dragon Age: Inquisition. She grew up in the Hinterlands, the first explorable area of that game, and joined the Inquisition as a scout.
Though she had a minor role in Inquisition, she is the first companion you’ll recruit in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. In Veilguard, her character journey revolves around her reconnecting with the dwarven ancestry and its connection to the elven god.
However, like Bellara, she takes time to warm up to you, and you won’t see any romance scenes with her until you recruit all 7 companions.
Harding is optimistic, empathetic, and has a slightly dry sense of humor. She appreciates if you’re straightforward and action-oriented.
Harding can end up dating Taash if you do not choose to pursue her.
Lucanis Dellamorte

Though he seems mysterious and stoic at first, he opens up to be more romantic, and as you get to know him, you often find sarcastic dialogue options.
However, his romance is a slow-burn one and it will be quite some time before you can start pursuing him romantically.
If you do not end up dating Lucanis, he’ll start pursuing Neve.
Also keep in mind that if you choose to help Minathrous over Treviso when the two dragons attack during the first act, you’ll be locked out of romancing Lucanis.
Neve Gallus

- Faction: Shadow Dragons
- Companion Gift: Collected Evidence
Neve is a Private Investigator and a member of the Shadow Dragons, a resistance group opposing corrupt rulers, blood magic, and slavery in Tevinter. As such, Neve is driven to find justice for those in Tevinter oppressed by the Magisters.
You’ll meet Neve as early as the prologue. However, it will take quite some time before you can start romancing her, just like Bellara and Harding, though her romance isn’t as slow burn as that with Lucanis.
Neve appreciates honesty and dislikes if you try deceiving or fighting your way through conflicts. She also takes pride in her detective work and appreciates if you go over her notes with her.
Unlike Lucanis, you won’t be locked out of her romance if you choose Trevisto over Minathrous, her city. But if you choose not to romance Neve, she might end up with Lucanis.
