Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you the option to recruit Shadowheart as a potential party member. But to do that, you have to save her first. Here is how to do it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is an RPG that uses 5th-edition Dungeon and Dragon rules. But not all the rules of DnD are directly imported into the game. Because the main rules are made for tabletop games, the devs have changed a few rules to suit their game. Nonetheless, this is as close to a DnD experience as you will get in a video game.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, your choices and actions affect the world and people around you. The early game shows you an example of that. While escaping the crashed ship, you will find Shadowheart stuck in a pod. You can either save her, which will have her tag along with the team, or you can leave her and press on. Here we will discuss how to have her in the game.

Saving Shadowheart in BG3
Saving Shadowheart is pretty easy in Baldur’s Gate 3. When you find her in the pod, she will ask you to free her. You can see a console beside the pod that cannot be used until you find the specific item. Fortunately, the room beside the pod contains the item. Go to the room beside the pod and clear out the room. In the room, you will find a chest containing Eldritch Rune.
Eldritch Rune is the item you will need to save her from the pod. So, take it and return to the console. Now use the rune on the console to activate it. After that, you will be able to open the pod and free her.
