Keeping all the Money or deciding to return it to Glitterbeard may affect the story differently in BG3. This guide will show you all and bits of these choices and help you to a conclusion.

Still excited about Baldur’s Gate 3? We’re sure you are! Gather your friends, form a party to fight against powerful evils, and find the proper cure to save yourself from the parasites. As the main story starts, players may find themselves affected by the tadpoles, and by completing each mission, they will proceed slowly to find the cure.

However, in some missions and quests, you will be given choices. And upon your chosen answers, the story will change. One of the choice situations is when players visit Lower City Counting House’s Vault; they must choose whether to keep the Money or return it to Glitterbeard in BG3.

Counting House Money: Keep or Return?

After you meet Jaheira in BG3, a companion quest will start, and you may need to visit Lower City. The quest will be about visiting Lower City’s Counting Vault, where 10,000 Gold lies.

Now you can either take all this Gold and never return it, or you can give it back to Glitterbeard for a much lower reward in BG3.

Keep Counting House Money

Once you get to the Counting House, it will be straightforward to get into the Vault without any big hassle, as the security is pretty low there. Get there with your party and take up all the 10,000 worth of Gold in pouches.

If you choose to keep the Gold, it will be yours, and you can use it later in BG3 as you like. Wouldn’t it be super amazing?

Return Counting House Money

However, if you choose to loot all the Gold and return to Glitterbeard, he will give you;

  • 2600 Gold
  • Number Nine Vault Key
  • Elegant Studded Leather (A Light Armor)

But these are not worth more than 10,000 Gold. Moreover, the Number Nine Vault can be easily opened by Astarion from your party, so it is no use if Glitterbeard gives you that. It will be a loss project if you return the vast amount of Money to Glitterbeard.

Nevertheless, if players want to do the 50-50 method and convince Glitterbeard to give 5,000 Gold out of 10,000 in return as a reward, he may not agree at first. In that case, you need to do the Persuasion or Intimidation Check. If you win, Glitterbeard will give you 5,000 Gold instead of 2600.

Anyway, keeping all the Money to yourself in BG3 is recommended for better gameplay.
