Embark Studios is preparing to reveal much more about the future of ARC Raiders as its massive Frozen Trail expansion approaches. Executive Producer Aleksander Grøndal recently addressed the community again, teasing the next stage of the extraction shooter and reiterating that plenty of surprises are still being kept under wraps.
Frozen Trail launches on October 8, 2026, and Embark previously described it as the biggest ARC Raiders update since the game launched. The expansion is set to introduce a new region, Outposts, progression changes, weapons, gadgets, new ARC enemies, and much more.

ARC Raiders Frozen Trail Will Let Players Build and Decorate Outposts
One of Frozen Trail’s biggest additions is the Outpost system. Embark says Raiders will be able to inhabit a new space outside their existing Raider Den. Players can decorate their Outpost, research elements of the world, and use the system as part of the game’s expanding long-term progression.
The idea also ties directly into ARC Raiders’ broader story. After surviving underground in Speranza, Raiders are beginning to push back against ARC and take their first steps toward reclaiming the surface.
New Weapons, Gadgets, Items, and Gameplay Improvements Are Coming
Frozen Trail is not just adding a new location. Embark has confirmed that the update includes new weapons and weapon personalization, gadgets, cosmetics, instruments, and other unannounced content. The Skill Tree is also being adjusted to give players more control over their builds, while Raider Decks are being reworked to become more rewarding.
The studio is also continuing to work on matchmaking, anti-cheat, stability, and quality-of-life improvements alongside the expansion.
A Strange Signal Leads Raiders Beyond the Mountains
The story of Frozen Trail begins with an unusual signal coming from beyond the mountains. According to Embark’s official announcement, Shani will call on Raiders to investigate the signal, sending players into an unexplored frozen settlement on the edge of the Rust Belt. The area once contained villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory but has since been abandoned.
The new map is being designed with increased verticality and exploration in mind, with threats appearing both above and below ground.
Frozen Trail will also introduce new ARC enemies, ranging from smaller machines to an enormous new threat, plus a high-level ARC Operation aimed at experienced players.
Perhaps the most interesting part of Grøndal’s message is that Embark still has more to reveal. The studio has repeatedly said that the currently announced features represent only part of Frozen Trail. More surprises are planned as the October 8 release approaches, while the latest community messaging indicates players should expect another major look at the expansion soon.
