Xbox FPS Boost doubles frame rates of backwards compatible games

Microsoft has finally released the Xbox FPS Boost feature that doubles frame rates of backwards compatible titles on Xbox Series X|S.

During the release of Xbox’s next-gen Xbox Series X|S back in 2020, Microsoft had constantly talked about features that will enhance the performance of backward compatible games automatically. Backward compatibility has always been a loved and cherished feature of Xbox consoles. Furthermore, after the release of Xbox One X current-gen games got huge boosts. In addition to last-gen games getting amazing visual upgrades. Hence, the Xbox FPS boost feature is something to be expected by gamers.

Yesterday, the awaited feature became a reality when the team at Xbox revealed ‘Xbox FPS Boost’. This new feature will enable select games to run on higher frame rates than ever. Ranging from 60fps to a whopping 120fps.

As of now, only 5 games support this feature. Additionally, Super Lucky’s Tale is the only game right now to support 120fps.

The full list of games with Xbox FPS Boost are:

  • Far Cry 4 – 60 FPS
  • New Super Lucky’s Tale – 120 FPS
  • Sniper Elite 4 – 60 FPS
  • UFC 4 – 60 FPS – Xbox Series S
  • Watch Dogs 2 – 60 FPS

Of course, this list will only increase in the coming days. Moreover, players will soon get an indicator logo when they press the home button on the Xbox controller. This will show whether the game is running on the Xbox FPS Boost. Additionally, players can toggle this on or off. I do not know whether anyone will ever toggle this feature off.
