Check out if Dead Island 2 has crossplay in co-op.
Dead Island 2 is a sequel to the 2011 hit “Dead Island.” Apparently, in the years since the first game, the zombies have decided to take their show on the road and head to the West Coast. And who can blame them? I mean, have you seen the weather out there?
Anyway, as a survivor, your job is to scavenge for supplies, craft weapons, and generally try not to get eaten by the walking dead. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, maybe not, considering the open-world map is apparently pretty huge and filled with all kinds of hazards and challenges.
And with the game’s release date just around the corner, we are dying to know (pun intended) if we can join forces with our chums across different platforms. Will it be crossplay or cross-don’t-play? But at least we can all agree that there’s nothing like a good zombie-slaying session to bring people together—even if it means enduring a few platform-specific jabs along the way.

Does Dead Island 2 Have Crossplay?
Crossplay brings all of us under a single platform—like a big, happy, multi-colored family. It’s the feature that’s been missing from so many games, leaving players feeling isolated and platform-favorited.
With its post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested LA setting, this game is just begging for some cooperative play. After all, who doesn’t love slaying zombies with their pals? But let’s not get ahead of ourselves—does Dead Island 2 actually have multiplayer? Well, the original game allowed for up to four players to team up, so what do the Devs have to say about this one?
Unfortunately, Dead Island 2 will not be joining the crossplay party.
That’s right; the game won’t have crossplay at launch. So if you were planning on playing with your friends on different platforms, you might have to re-evaluate your squad goals. Devs from Dumbuster Studios haven’t given any indication that they will add crossplay support in the future, leaving players feeling a bit stranded.
What You Need to Know…
The game won’t have cross-progression either. It means that if you decide to switch platforms, you won’t be able to take your progress. It’s like being stuck in a zombie-infested city, unable to escape.
However, there is a glimmer of hope. The developer hasn’t ruled out the possibility of adding cross-platform support in a post-launch update. So if you’re willing to wait a little longer, you might still get to team up with your friends on different platforms and take down those pesky zombies.
Dead Island 2 is set to release on April 21st, and it’s a multi-platform release. Players on Xbox and PC will be able to join the zombie-killing action. But without crossplay and cross-progression, the game will be much more restricted compared to other titles that offer these features.
So, for now, it looks like players will have to stick to their own platforms and fend off the undead on their own. But who knows, maybe the developers will surprise us with some cross-platform magic in the future. Until then, let’s just hope that we won’t get too lonely in our fight against the zombies.
And that is all I had in my stash. Hang around till we cook something more from Dead Island 2. Cheerio!
