Valve introduces Steam Deck to Rival Nintendo Switch

For the fair price of $399, PC games can now be enjoyed in the palms of our hands.

Valve has just introduced its brand new handheld gaming device to the world. And judging by its functionalities, Steam Deck will directly rival the Nintendo Switch. The launching announcement was made through Steam’s official Twitter handle.

The device closely resembles Nintendo Switch but will give Steam account holders full accessibility to their Steam library. Valve is now taking reservations for pre-orders on its website. The product description reads:

“We partnered with AMD to create Steam Deck’s custom APU, optimized for handheld gaming. It is a Zen 2 + RDNA 2 powerhouse, delivering more than enough performance to run the latest AAA games in a very efficient power envelope”

The product’s selling point is its ability to bring portability to PC games. Games can be accessed just as players have left them on PC. Moreover, Steam Deck owners can easily install Windows or Linux on their devices as many of the games are not supported by its SteamOS yet.

Valve is currently offering 3 versions of the Steam Deck. The base version comes with 64 GB internal storage and a carrying case. It is priced at $399 USD. The second version comes with 256 GB NVMe SSD storage and is priced at $529 USD. It will also come with a carrying case and an Exclusive Steam Community profile bundle.

Lastly, the third version comes with 512 GB SSD storage, Premium anti-glare etched glass, Exclusive carrying case, Exclusive Steam Community profile bundle, and Exclusive virtual keyboard theme. It is priced at $649 USD.
