With tons of potential, Yoru was released back in January of this year. The agent has been struggling to make any effective changes to the ongoing meta ever since.

Initially, Yoru was teased as a Duelist agent with tons of lurking capabilities. After two months, the initial impressions faded away as Yoru struggled to find any role in the competitive scene. VALORANT lacked an agent that could fill the role of a lurker; surprisingly, all of Yoru’s abilities contradict any existential rule of lurking.
The ever so proactive VALORANT community is yet to give up on the agent. Redditor Ajattelit precisely laid out some buff ideas that could give Yoru a second chance. Primarily, Yoru’s abilities are Gatecrash, Fakeout & Blindside.
Current flaws & buff ideas
Gatecrash is basically a hybrid version of Omen’s Shadow Walk ability. Although, Yoru’s Gatecrash ability is suffering from some timing & signature-related issues. As suggested above, the only way to fix this ability would be to cut down the initiation time, making it near-instantaneous.
Similarly, Your’s Fakeout ability is failing to serve its only purpose, which is to produce fake footsteps to confuse the enemy. Currently, the ability only works in a one-way direction. Adding the extra option to curve the footstep would make it more effective & multipurpose as well.
As a duelist agent, Yoru’s Blindside is often considered the weakest flash in the game. The flash has to bounce off a wall or object to activate itself, making it painfully slow & ineffective. On the other hand, the addition of a timer would increase Your’s capability to entry & cause damage to common chokepoints.
Lastly, the agent’s ultimate ability is called “Dimensional Drift,” which gives the agent a certain amount of time to roam around the map with invisibility. This ability is only meant to gather intel; however, it’s working like a one-way trip to death in most cases. According to Ajattelit, Yoru should have the option to cancel the Dimensional Drift and get himself back to safety.

VALORANT community’s excitement about Yoru reached its peak during the first week of January. Despite all the overwhelmingly positive impressions, Yoru failed to secure any dedicated audience. Patch 2.03 delivered some buffs to the agent, but ultimately it wasn’t nearly enough.
